holy shit, I read that post twice and I still don't understand it. I mean, it's English alright, but...

cjsporl, maybe you could expand on that thought a bit. I'm sure there are lots of other idiots on this forum that would love to hear more about how exhaust mods and after-market air filters will blow up their bikes. But that they should just do after-market exhaust and better air filter if they want power.

Yes please, tell me more. Share your pearls of wisdom till I got blood gushing out of my ears.

and when you buy this bike don't go and start doing those exhaust mods and air filter mods accept for replacing the air filter. Your just going to blow up the engine like the rest of the idiots on this forum. get an aftermarket exhaust and a oversize header pipe with a k&n filter if you want power.

What I meant is that people are having holes drilled into there exhaust for more air and leaving air boxes open. Those exhaust mods from kyntech will kill your engine. My uncle is a mechanic with a collage degree in car mechanics. He recommends that people do not use his mod and just get a high air filter aftermarket exhaust and a oversize header pipe for performance

Your Uncle should stick to advising car owners!!! or not.

And I was talking about airbox mods not air filters; air boxes aren't made to be changed...

The opening of the airbox we talk about here has nothing to do with getting rid of the air filter !! It has to do with enlarging the the opening in the top of the airbox to allow a better flow of air , the airfilter remains just as always.

It improves performance and economy allows the engine to breath better .

Most imported bikes are restricted in air flow and exhaust to pass emissions so with a little tweak here and there we are able to get them to where they perform much better without adding undue stress to the overall engine.

I know of no one on this forum that would be silly enough to run a dirt bike without an air filter , that as you say would be asking for serious trouble.

Perhaps you should start reading this thread from the beginning I think that you would be well versed in tuning and performance modifications by the time you finish it .

Get back to us when you are done .

Of course if you are just trolling here then we will probably entertain you for a while but then you will be ignored.

Noob - Welcome to the forum. Here's some advice:
  1. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you make an ass of yourself (opening up an airbox does not bypass the filter.)
  2. Jesse knows more about DR350s than just about any other bike mechanic and certainly any car mechanic. There's lots of qualified mechanics and engineers on here who would agree with that statement.
  3. Contribute something positive and earn some respect before you start with the attitude
  4. Plenty of people on this forum and elsewhere have rough looking bikes that got that way by being ridden hard and often, but which are in perfect mechanical condition. When you are ready to step up and ride like them, you can start telling them how much nicer you keep you bike looking.

Have fun!

It doesn't have to be that way. Here is my pretty new looking '95 which has 42K miles on it.
