And now for something completely different:

Update!
Did some more work with pokey today. More fat trimming:

This motor is absolutely gigantic. I could live in the engine compartment after the engine is removed:

In fact i think i might just do that:

Hmm, something is missing i just cant quite put my finger on it:

That is all, have a good day.

Inane:

I was using the services of the local airhead Pro, Matt Parkhouse recently. He has an older style VW bus. He removed the engine and has replaced it with an electric motor. Just bolts onto the transaxle (transmission?) with an adapter plate. All the electronics and such are in the engine bay. I think he says he has 35+ mile range while lets him go to work and back. Neat looking but not sure exactly why someone would go to all the trouble.

Dave

But airheads are still internal combustion engines that can go anywhere if you put gas in the tank. Electric VW Buses that can only go 35 miles before you find an extension cord are a bit more limiting.

The airheads (both of mine) are sold and heading to new homes soon as of today. Replaced with this old 2004 beater.

Geek:

Yes, I had a blue/orange 2004.5 950S "GO" that got sold to a local inmate. It was too tall for my own safety; so it went. I'm a bike whore. This one is pretty stock with all 3 Gobi's and some Remus cans with inserts. Bought it from a friend in Denver who bought it from a friend (of both of us) from Boulder. Low miles, pretty cherry. Has all the original parts and a spare seat that will go to Renazco in May. Has service manuals and such so I think I'm pretty well set.

Gonna get a baseline service as not quite sure what's been done since it has but 7432 miles but is 7 years old. So, all fluids including coolant, valves, and such. Ned's been into the carbs and such with the previous owner and let me know it was all good mechanically. Maybe toss either an Odyssey or one of those new-fangled batteries in there. Gonna replace the fuel pump with a Facet now and check the water pump seals and such. All the normal 950 failure points. I don't think this one even has the 16T counter yet. Not sure on skid plates but Blackdog or TT soon. I think I need some heavier fork springs too. It dives a bunch.

Runs like a raped ape.

My goal is to take it up the Trans Lab this summer and then the ferry over to Newfoundland and back via NS. I turn 55 and I plan to be in Goose Bay on my birthday in July.

Thanks for asking.

Anyone in the northern Colorado front range (Den - Ft. Collins) stick their head outside tonight? I got 55 degrees and a nice Chinook blowing as I let the dog out recently. Nice to feel for a change instead of single-digits

Yup, we noticed it too...ridiculously warm. Looks like pretty warm for the next week last I scoped out the weather channel.

If you ever do come back to Loveland, you'll come back looking like George Hamilton.
