It seems like Netflix has many movies available for rent through DVD that aren't available streaming.

Right now, the majority of their library is by dvd only. It's my understanding that they intend to move to an all streaming model in the future...bandwidth be damned...

Documentary: The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.

Funny at first, then sad, then heartwarming...some exploitation but aren't all documentaries to some extent?
Yeah, it was all of the above. I've recommended it to a few people who can't seem to open their minds beyond Ronald's black-inner-city-welfare-queen-single-mom freeloaders who game the system. "You mean red staters do this too?"

Horatio's Drive. Fantastic! Seen it twice and have recommended it every chance I get.

Just watched "5 Dollars a Day" last night and laughed my ass off. If you like Christopher Walken even a little bit you must see. I love the "grifter/scammer" genre (catch me if you can, confidence, grifters, paper moon, the sting, etc) and this is the funniest one I"ve seen.

Everything Is Illuminated gets 5+ stars.

Amazing movie with Elijah Wood and Eugene Hütz (the lead singer of Gogol Bordello) basically where Elijah's character goes to find out about the woman who saved his grandfather from the Holocaust. It is a serious movie at some points due to the subject matter but there are a lot of great and funny scenes.

I like foreign films. Saw these recently and they are great.

District 9 - action packed, great story line. Directed by a South African who migrated to Canada. The only movie he has ever made. In English.
Let The Right One - Interesting vampire story between two 12-year old (of course one 12-yo has been 12 many, many times ). Has some funny scenes. In Swedish.
Ben X - Great performances. About an autistic kid being bullied and how he had his revenge. In Danish.

Non-foreign film but worth mentioning.

The Merry Gentleman - directorial debut by Michael Keaton. Great character development. In English of course.
Little Miss Sunshine. Most of you may have heard of it already so I don't need to elaborate.

I love District 9 (4*'s) but some people hate it.

Planet 51 (4*'s) Kids watched it today and enjoyed it immensly.

Outsourced (3*'s +) I had my doubts but this turned out to be quite enjoyable. My wife and MIL, (of Indian origin) had a really good laugh. (4*'s for them)

Watched District 9 this morning. Did not really like it, but could not turn it off. How is that? Would not watch again. Interesting story line though.

Among a few filmmakers I love Jack Tatti work, so simple so fresh and so funny, They are french but with very dialoge.

Netflix has three of his movies
Playtime
(Tempo di divertimento)

M. Hulot's Holiday
(Les Vacances de M. Hulot)

And my favorite out of this three
Mon Oncle
(My Uncle)

And one from Win Wenders, one of the most amazing directors of all times
Buena Vista Social Club
The rest of his work is only on DVD

I also enjoy a "animated" movie call
Captain ski and the world of tomorrow

Because is very innovative in terms of film development

I also have a many other favorites but they are only on DVD so I will not mention them here

Some more from a French director call Luc Besson

He has made many great films like "the professional" (Leon) but the only ones available are.

The Fifth Element

La Femme Nikita

The Big Blue (Le grand bleu)

All of them in English for easy viewing
