That is the best advise, 100% spot on, cant ask for or expect better.

By the way, the GS is sitting in the garage with yet another OIL LEAK, the KLR is sitting there just waiting, daring me to hit the starter, concrete below dry as a bone.

I do the same tracks up the hill on an enduro bike.
It's a lot faster on a 450 but it's a lot less work on the G/S.
On the G/S I feel much more secure when I'm on my own; I can stop to sniff the daisies and still do a hill start.

just wondering if this is an apples to footballs comparison.

The thing with KLRs is this, as quoted from some KLR riders. "In almost every picture of a dual sport ride you will see a KLR in some capacity, It might not be in the forefront, but it will be there"

Well, yeah, there's that. The GS has seen 265k kms while the KLR has less than 40k. And yes, the GS is supremely comfortable. But with a recently added Corbin seat, the KLR's pretty cozy for the long haul, too.

I enjoy both of these bikes for a variety of different reasons, but if I was heading off for three or four months on the road to South America, I'd be pretty hard pressed to take the GS over the KLR.
