ah, this is the old "it'll move" argument. it's a 480...they don't kick that bad.

What I think was happening was as it recoiled back my finger would slide down the trigger and not hit but press hard against the bottom of the trigger guard on the bottom of the finger between the middle and end knuckles.

I think that's what was happening. If I shot it SA I think my finger would be in a different position on the trigger when it broke.

I did the same thing w/ a 3x Burris. When I took it off the FA, the lines of the scope were kinda bent. I put it on an Encore w/ a 12" .454 bull barrel, shot it once, handed it to a buddy to have a go and he held it up, looked confused, held it up again, looked confused again, and handed it back to me. The wires, or whatever they are, were just kinda wadded up in the bottom of the scope. Oops. Burris sent me a new one.

i had that happen with a weaver on a .243. cross hairs just seemed to come loose. they weren't wadded up on the bottom but it shot all over the place and wouldn't adjust at all.

and this leads to them moving in the rings? do rifle scopes flex and move? i always adjust a rifle scope to the eye relief i want not so the rings meet any certain point of the tube.

i've not had a handgun scope move before but that could be because this is the first one i've owned.

Inertia happens. I just have scopes on 2 handguns, a TSOB mounted Simmons 2-7 on the FA Casull, and a 3-12 Burris on an XP100 in 22-250 with a one piece Burris mount. No problems with either, after I destroyed the can on the Casull. Tighten up the screws and check 'em. It's all good.

/Yup ... I honestly practice taking the safety off and presenting the gun than actually shooting .... by a factor of 100.

If you watch closely, the rail is flexing a lot. The scope isn't flexing that much. Plus, that's a 50bmg.

A 50 can flex a battle ship. Which is why I don't have one. .338 Lapua mag is way more accurate anyway.
