Rocker for sure but I am a tad Mod-curious.

Imho this is an artificially (british) discrimination and has no meaning in the real scooter world (99.999% continental Eurasia).

alicethomas, your opinion is a little off target but close.

This thread isn't discrimination, it's just some folks having fun.

Discrimination would be the Moderators banning you from the forum for your thoughts, race, creed, or religion. I've been down this "you're discriminating" BS road many times, and quite truthfully it's a line of crap because some pansy-mama's boy couldn't handle being with the big boys.

The 60's had some good stuff, and some crappy stuff. Unfortunately the British are so anal retentive about being so high strung over certain things that they appear to be lame or behind the times.

I will say they do have some good TV shows at times.

Rocker-Mod, I'm neither. I'm who I am, and can hold my own thanks to the way life and society has made me.

Don't start no trouble, there won't be no trouble.

Probably I used a wrong word. I didn't meant a penalization of a certain group.
Just an (imho) unreasonable distinction, only meaningful in respect to a certain decade on a "small" island. I even don't know any translation of "Mod" into another language - it has no meaning.
How could a randomly choosen African/Asian/(South-)European... rider be classified?

Thought this was just supposed to be a bit of fun, personally I am what I am, but believe me back in the day the distinction really did matter here on this small (but perfectly formed?) island, particularly when a bunch of the other guys were chasing you down

Respect to all two wheel travellers,

Mal

Well, I had a scooter and a bike in the same garage for a while, they seemed to get along OK.

Same once for a "Stang and a "Vette.

I've always loved both movements and still attend both Mod and Rockabilly clubs whenever I venture out of the dark highland glens and head for the city.
Both movements encompass such a wide range of musical genres (not to mention related art and design), that I'd find it impossible to choose just one movement exclusively...There's just too much soul/modern jazz/ be-bop/latino soul/boogaloo/hammond grooves/rockabilly/surf/beat/ jump-jive/blues/rythym'n'blues/swing and rock'n'roll to have to make a choice!

And a mid 60s Vespa with just one or two tasteful accessories (clubman style with Andre` Baldet style paint job), presses my buttons as much as an early 60s BMW outfit or a modern Royal Enfield Bullet Classic....Love it all!
