two thing that have helped me try to ride with a body position where you have little or no weight on the bars to test this let go and try not to fall on your face (it is harder than it sounds) and when hopping the front try not to push down with your feet while pulling up on the bars, try to unweight the peddels while you are moving the front around

Went down to the park and rode circles around the basketball courts for about an hour and a half working on basic stuff. I ran out of water half way through but I was having too much fun to quit.
Now my hands REALLY hurt and I have a blister.

I USED to have a trials bike, kind of.
It was a Raleigh Edge Mountain Trials designed by John Olsen. 26 front, 24 rear wheels. It was a sweet handling and really fun bike. I bought it new around 1989 (when I used to mountain bike A LOT) and rode it everywhere I could. I even did a couple of trials events, did OK. My bunny hop was my downfall, I can only get about .003" off the ground. I used to be able to ride it places I can only dream of riding now. This was the only bike where I ever collected on the frame warranty. One of the rear dropouts broke on it, and the bike shop replaced it no questions asked. The original one had cantilevers front & rear, the replacement had the rollercam under the chainstay which was a really bad idea. I'm sad to say I sold it on Craigslist a few years ago, and got less than $100 for it.

Damn you people!
All this bicycle talk reminded me that I had an old Haro BMX tucked away in the basement. Got to thinking that it would be good for a little bit of fun to dig it out and see if I could still do some of the stuff from 25 years ago.
The answer is no. It took about 14 seconds to deposit me on my ass. My kids thought it was great.

Decided it was time to start learning how to edit video. Ben and I played around a bit with it, and it wasn't nearly as tedious as I expected it to be.

The Echo is what's referred to as a stock which has 26" wheels. It's really Ben's bike, I just goof around on it a bit.
The Monty that I have coming has 20" wheels and should fit me a lot better. I just got back from riding for a little over an hour, I'm whooped but I'm starting to figure out bounce turns pivoting on the front wheel. I think I managed about 90 degrees to the right but only about 10 degrees to the left.

The closeout deal at CBtrials is a killer deal. The only thing I would add is if this is for your young son, look into some older brake master cylinders. Most of the new ones are radial style pumps and as such, position the lever much farther from the bars when at rest. Charlas Monty has different masters that our son can easily reach. Just a thought. If Cb lacks any stock for your build, MidwestBikeTrials.com is where I had my bike built. Matt was very helpful.
