To be honest I find the lid configuration pretty useless. If you could press a button to open it fully and another button to open it partially it would rock. Now you have to open the lid fully, change 2 tabs (and try not to break your fingers in the process, they are very hard to move), close the lid, and now it's in partial opening mode. So yeah.

A bit OTT mate. I agree with you about loud pipes. Here in the UK bikers have a bad image for no good reason and loud pipes do nothing to enhance that. I use and will continue to use a stock pipe. Aside from the anoyance to others problem, they become tiring after a while.
However, Greg at wasp works makes good stuff and believe me, unless you only ride the bike to the local shop, you will want to do something with the screen. On top of that the bash plate (if you buy one from Yamaha) is useless.
Whilst this bike is a leap forward in motorcycling, it is not perfect and you will (I believe) want to change some things.

Just to say it again--the wasp pipe isn't louder, just has a different tone.


Dunno about Akro or GYTR or whatever.

Loud is bad, anywhere, I agree...but this started as a "I don't need all that techy stuff"...and then an incorrect assumption that any S10 buyer wanted to make lots of noise.

Don't know where that latter notion came from...but no one is proposing it from what I've read.

If I buy a pipe of any kind it will be to lose weight and nothing more. The S10's pipe is up high and a bad place to be carrying excess weight. Most of the after market pipes I have heard are not what I would call loud. Straight pipes on a Harley or clone cruiser, now that is loud.

If you are thinking the stock muffler weighs a ton, and that you can save a lot of weight changing to an aftermarket one, you might to check this post:

"I mentioned previously that I plan on making a new carbon muffler. This morning we removed and weighed the muffler and was surprised to find it was a reasonable 5.5kg. A carbon muffler should go around 1.5>2kg so there is not a huge saving to be had, just that it will sound a shitload better than the standard note."

Can anyone give me a bit of info. Does the 10 come with any 12v sockets and if so, where are they?

Yes I know there is not a lot of weight to be saved but every little bit counts and why stop at the muffler. I am sure there is a lot of un-necesary junk that could be removed, first and foremost any emission crap they tack on it. EVAP system went on both my B-King and Bandit 1250, you'd be suprised how much that crap weighs.
