According to Mike Werner (Daily Motorcycle News), the release date has been put back to September - he's hoping to get a press unit shortly for testing and review, so keep an eye on his site above.

I have been holding out for one of these.
Just noticed the other day that they changed the release date from 'Summer '05' to 'Autumn '05' ![]() Oh well. Maybe Garmin will come out with their new unit by then. |

Before anybody creams themselves on this new model you might want to check out the specs when they become available.
Garmins competitor for the Tomtom in-car units is the SP c320. Ignoring the fact that is not waterproof, the other specs show that this unit is not useful offroad. If you look at the specs you will find that there is no way to display a position (latitude/longitude) on the unit. Also, it does not have 500 waypoints but it does have 500 'favorites'. It only stores addresses as favorites. There is effectively only one true waypoint, the HOME favorite. Apart from this you cannot mark a spot that does not have a street address. Useful, NOT! |

Comp USA had a Tom Tom on display yesterday in Atlanta. I didn't spend any time with it but I assumed they are in stock?

...but then I just got an email from www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk imforming me that the tomtom Rider is in stock now: http://www.globalpositioningsystems....a121b75f7dcb37
Only one actually in stock that I can see, and price is still tbc, but this is still better news than "Autumn 2005". Hello, btw. I'm just here for the Equipment forum--I like the way you guys think! Ciao,

By the way, I later got another email from them telling me that the first email was a mistake, and no, they don't have it after all...
Ciao,
