yikes, a KLR rear fender on the front of a VStrom, what's the world coming to?

with the DL1000 wheel on the front this rat, there's not much mystery about what yours would look like.

i'll let ya know if i decide to make up a couple.

Tried out a set of 17in EX500 rims on the KLR today the front will have to go on backwards unless I can figure out how to turn the forks around and have the front brake hose to not kink. Go any hints

Right you are!!

Here's a part of a Strom rear fender on the front of a......whatever.
Gladius Headlight, modded KTM- high guard, cut-down and bi-sected OEM front guard mounted to forkbrace

With alum-mesh infill-cover....the mesh will be black in the end, like the checkerplate-cheeks.
Work in progress......s l o w progress, that is

Love your work, mate....AWESOME!!!

last i heard, those wheels were destined for the ex250. you scrap that project and decide to motard a KLR instead? don't know what that wheel looks like exactly, but the rotor should be on the correct side, then it's just a bracket to make a caliper fit.

sometimes i think Oz must be the center of the universe for rat bike builds. you guys see a part and think "hmmm, i can make that work." high/low fender setup, we're thinking along the same lines.

what material is used to fab the "cheeks"?

Its on the wrong side. The ex500 wheels look good I may get the spacers made for Laural

Underneath it's the OEM ABS- panels, cut'n shut muiltiple times and heat-moulded around the tank-cheeks.
Filled and smoothed with contact-glue bonded heat-mouldable EVA (the mid-sole material of your Nike's etc), finished off with a contact-glued marine-vinyl (diamond pattern, often showing up as c/f in photos).

2-2.5 full days of work in a pair.

thanks, it is serious fun.

the gal in the photo is a rider and wanted to take the rat bike home with her, but claimed a different 650 from the fleet and took that one home instead...and now i understand that the hubby is cruising around on her new bike while making pretend check rides.

It just dawned on me that an inmate has a factory rear KLR rim only for sale on here I may check into it. The caliper does not fly with me either but man it handles the turn faster now I will get tired of it and change it later.
Just took another look and I will go without my speedo for now, going to swap the forks back around The gps will do for now...

You trying to bait me here JD. All I get to do to that bike is wrench it... no riding on it. We are going riding tomorrow, I'll post a pic later in the weekend.

no riding, just wrenching, ok...it's just that the entire ADV universe is on the alert for unauthorized use of that bike.
