Zumo 550 route for the CDR needed.
Well I've been trying to get a route onto my Zumo 550 using my Mac and the "Roadtrip" program, (Garmin says Mapsourse is for PC's only) everybody else I talked to says the Zumo 550 can't save tracks so that's not good to hear after spending a shit load of $$$ on getting the unit, then getting it all on my KTM 990 Adv. wired up and ready with all the Touratech set-up on the dash, I'm into this now so there's no turning back, have a CDR ride next summer and I would like to be ready and confident that I'm not going to lead my friends into trouble out there, I don't think that's asking too much is it?
Spent 2 hrs on the phone with Garmin/Mac specialist and he got B/D's CDR route loaded onto my Roadtrip map on my Mac but when he saw all the waypoints on B/D's route he said "this is not going to fit" seems I can only have 250 waypoints on my Zumo (called via's in a Zumo) and B/D's route has a lot more then that. So I think I need a route with less then 250 waypoints that somebody else has used using a Mac and a Zumo. Am I the only inmate with a Mac and a Zumo that's ever wanted to ride the CDR?

Check GpsXChange
Hey there Numnuts...that's too good...easy laughs
![]() I can't help with the Zumo but I can suggest checking into GpsXChange and look under CountDowns tracks. He has broken them down into 250 pts files for the CDR. This should work out for you. I came across this thread by my own interest in doing the CDR this summer. When are you planning on doing it and how many of you? I am in search of at least one other rider but may end up soloing it. Cheers, Mike

If you can get my .gpx file open on your Mac and just send tracks to Zumo, when you unplug you should be able have it convert my tracks to routes.
MY tracks are 500 points per track, 15-16 tracks for whole thing plus a couple options. PS, I would buy a hand held that can take tracks for back up on a ride this big.

I road the CDR with a zumo 550 and had no problems with all the legs being routes. CDR is made up of mostly dirt roads with pavement connectors which are all found in the various mapsets. Given a choice between my track friendly little 78s and Zumo I would select the 550 for the CDR each and every time.
Route file? If I was to ride this again, I'd grab inmate cannotshot's tracks which are based on bigdog's original but with a number of nice side trips and waypoints added if you time. |

This has Zumo compatible routes in it. I made it based on several published versions and added waypoints based on ride report details. It's what I made for my future trip. |

Every time I have tried to use routes first with my Garmin 3+ and now with my 60 csx, I have encountered enough unpleasant surprises that I have given up on routes and stick to navigating with tracks that I either download from somewhere or create manually from tracks. |

The route is broken down into sections that correspond to their maps. While I did pay good $$ to buy their map set you don't need those maps to follow the GPS sections. I loaded the sections I needed into the Zumo 450 as I needed them.
