Boise ride this weekend...

Hey Guys. I've been in Boise 3 years now. Mostly bike-less and with small child & wife. Now I should be able to sneak out a bit and take advantage of the BMW X-Challenge I got from the guys at Happy Trails recently. My main riding partner is over in Bend and we can't get together often enough. I'd like to meet some riders and get out in the sticks and stones!

The Challenge seat sucks--the worst seat I have ever experience! I'm not in to spending long stretches of time on the tarmac with this bike. Besides, it's a dirt bike. And I'm not likely to be doing many overnighters for a while although I do want to when oppurtunity knocks. So I'm thinking that a lot of the planned rides on IAMC aren't for me? I could be wrong. Right now I'm thinking day trips, trails, exploring, ... I'd like to find some folks that do DRZ type riding (although I could careless what you ride). I want dirt! Anybody doing some group rides where I could tag along or does anybody have some other ideas for finding folks?

I want to go tear it up!

Welcome. I post up rides fairly often on here. You are welcome to come along.

You said "I want to go tear it up!" Does that mean you like to ride briskly? Most of the rides posted on IAMC are more sedate rides.

I plan to do some brisk riding tomorrow on my 450.

Anyhoo, riverdoc, welcome to the fold. there are some that will entertain you here. I noticed from your profile your still a pup (younger man)who probably still enjoys extreme physical abuse and riding like the wind... well then I highly recommend hooking up with Trailrider383. He is a great guy who will give you a good workout even if only a day ride. Just be warned if he 's riding the 450 you'll enjoy the sweat.

Absolutely! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people out there that can smoke me. But I've been riding since the day I got a license, well more like intermittently since then, bike I can ride. I've felt like I could pretty much ride a DRZ to its max. Your 450? No way I'm sure. My Challenge? Not likely either. Adreneline surge? Bring it on!

Where you thinking about riding? I'm out in the Eagle. My butt might break by the time I got to Nampa. We've been doing a bit of car rearranging so I am truck-less and don't have anything to tow my trailer with at the moment. But I want to get out!

Don't feel much like a young pup and I have learned over recent years that I am not mortal Dang it. But I do enjoy a certain amount of physical abuse and riding like the wind. That reminds me, I gotta get a hold of that duck that sells disability insurance

I got all my parts except for one seal. It should be here Thursday so I'm still looking good. This was my first time ordering OEM parts from Bike Bandit instead of the local dealer. I won't make that mistake again.

I'm in New Plymouth and I'm going to be riding west of Nyssa Oregon. I'm going to head out around 12:00 p.m. and hit the dirt about 12:45. If you want to ride that far I would meet you in Nyssa at the only stoplight in town.

Well, I sorta had a hunch you may have to rein in. I heard the weather guy say this'll be the coldest Memorial Weekend in about 30 ish years. I was up at Cascade Wed/thur and it was cold rainy and sleeting.

Since you put it in that context of what is currently posted then yes sedate you have to remember the weather is keeping most domicile bound.

You assume the level of the ride reflects pace or excitement. A level 1 ride can happen at a pace that is anything but sedate and have plenty of excitement. Sam will remember a ride I'd describe as a level 1 or 2 as far as skill level needed where he and Tankboy set a level 4/5 pace. And we had plenty of excitement on the ride. I'll post a ride to the Hells Canyon gathering next week that I'd describe as level 3 but will be pushed to a level 4 since I don't know what we'll find for conditions.

As usual, trailrider is the first to bail and I thank you. As much as I was looking forward to this, I'm glad you cancled it. On a brighter note, I think I found a replacement for the xr I sold to repair the pig. 2005 crf 450 x. The button rocks.
