Yes, I use a magnetic Joe Rocket Manta on my sporty. It works great to hold some tools, extra gloves, small items, etc. They cost about $45.

I use the same Joe Rocket Manta on my Sporty, especially when the saddle bags are off and I need to carry a few things. Works great and is not too big on the 3.3 gallon tank.

I use a tank bag also. Handy item. Words of wisdom. Check and clean underneath it often. I spent a day touring around a sand dune area. Sand was blown and made its way under the bag. When I stopped for gas and lifted the bag, the tank had perfect circles ground into the paint from the magnets contact points. Since then I have removed the magnets from inside the material and secure the bag with straps. Haven't had a problem since. It has a clear map pouch on top. I plot my days route in a large print similar in format to an enduro route sheet. I find this much easier and safer than trying to read a map on the fly.

That scoot just seems to fit so well with that setting.

Joe Rocket Hammerhead...Great for the short haul; perfect peanut tank fit.

I put blue, light tack, painting tape over the metal tank to prevent scratching the paint when using a tank bag. There are a variety of back racks and back rests that can be added to better support the pack and not risk scratching the tank.

I've had my Sportster for about a month now and have put about 600 miles on it since changing it back to the stock mid-controls, including one 200 mile day. The next order of business will be bags and a seat. I am 5'8", 145; are there any seat options that would sit a little higher and a little more forward? The stock seat is fairly comfortable if I sit all the way back in the bucket, but in that position I have very little bend in my arms, which gets old. The Sundowner or Mustang touring seats look like they would be a big improvement but was hoping somebody would have personal experience with them before I pull the trigger.

Check out the bench seat thread on here. I did mine and think it is the best mod you can make. The Sportster seat is just too close to the pegs. With the bench, you add about 3-4" of height and you can slide back and forth and move around instead of being 'seated' in one spot.

I just went through looking and didn't find anything.

Forward? Sure.
Higher? Nope.

I ended up with a RallyRunner (HD accessory seat, ordered from Zanottis). It doesn't really move me forward, but the taller rear edge does keep me from slipping back. It sits a bit lower than the OEM solo seat. Haven't decided if I like it yet. It wasn't immediately comfortable, but not uncomfortable either.

Can any of you post a pic of your tank bag mounted on the bike? I've got a 1200R and have been considering one. Besides the apparent usefulness of a tank bag, hoping it would help reduce the buffeting I get from my small Spitfire windshield (air definitely coming up from underneath). Would really rather not mount a set of lowers. Thanks - Mike
