Careful with the magnetic bags - they tend to scratch up the clear pretty easy unless you always keep them clean (or put something between the magnets and the tank.

I'd love to put a tankbag on mine, but the mere act of removing the gas cap when I have gloves on has been leaving scratch marks that show pretty clearly in the clearcoat aroudn the gas cap. I'm too afraid to mount anything at all to the tank---I don't know why, but the clearcoat HD Uses is the thinnest I've ever seen on a bike...

There are two plastic clips that hold it at the top, and the cover sometimes vibrates loose and flies away on the highway. I think it's $80-90. That's why they say HD stands for Hundred Dollar.

Of course, when I go on XLforum I find this is a very common problem and people zip-tie them, cotter pin, etc. Just wish I'd read them before I took a longer ride!

The mustang vintage might be what you want.
Very well made seat.
It had me a bit forward over the sundown seat.
You can also change/adjust the handle bars...

anyone else catch the AMA XR sportster race on speed network last night? half the laps of an ama supersport event (8 laps). these were my impressions:

(1) they sound REAL good;
(2) dang they're slow compared to the sportbikes; and
(3) pretty dadgum competitive

Thanks for the input. I may end up with a combo of new seat and handlebar risers.

I noticed that problem the first time I had the cover off. A small drill bit and some bent paper clips (as U shaped pins) were my solution.

I saw it. Great racing! Much more fun to watch than the other races. The top three racers were really going at it. I actually was impressed how fast they were hauling on those sporties. Anyone who thinks Harleys can't lean should watch that. Yes, they're down bigtime on power compared to the open sportbikes, but that's what having 90 hp vs. 180 hp means. They sounded sweet! Too bad they didn't turn up the track volume more. Kudos to SPEED for showing it. Hopefully more in the future.

The tank on my 2006 XL883 is scratched up pretty bad from the tank bag. But I like using a tank bag. I'm considering using truck bed liner on it.
