Bubbwife reminds me of a trip we had up there in the last
year or two. She she met a guy on a big Harley in her lane who passed her on her right. She said, "I looked at him like he was crazy and all he could do is smile." |

How unbelievably ARROGANT to have the attitude that the road was built strictly for the pleasure of people out on their bikes! Roads are built for commerce. Next time a commercial vehicle slows you down, think how all his taxes and fees paid for the bulk of that road to be built and maintained. Flame on!

In Oz these kinds of roads are signed "Not suitable for trucks, buses, caravans trailers" which is highlighted under a large warning sign about the gradient and/or winding nature of the road ... these are large signs and very hard not to see. This also applies to tunnels, bridges with low clearances etc ... the signs show advised detours. In Oz if these signs are white background with black writing they are thus regulatory and MUST be obeyed. If the background is yellow with black writing the sign is advisory only. My research leads me to understand that road signs of this sort are an internationally agreed standard. Is this road a short cut? Is this why the trucks attempt it? I can imagine there may be some occasional need for a truck to travel on this road for a local delivery but why are they not required to have leading and following escort vehicles? |

Yes. I remember reading somewhere that even if some truckers are fined a sizable sum by the THP for using that route, they still end up making a tidier profit by the time saved.

Troll! ![]() Actually, I feel bad for the trucks that end up on that road - it must really suck trying to get a truck through there.
