i think it's a good choice, and i like the larger diameter end. little 100 mile test run this morning, changes to both shifter and brake pedal work great.

i really like the way your bike turned out. it has to be the new template for the full custom rat ninjas, and you know by now that the bike will fly with the cop motor.

on a side note, stopped at a quikmart yesterday and a guy flat out did not believe me when i said the bike was built from a bunch of junk parts. he claimed it was an Aprilla, and was kinda pissed when i said he was wrong.

you'll get the guessing game with your bike too.

damn, my poor gas tank...

filled the gas tank to check the range to the low fuel light, and i noticed a blister in the paint on the upper left rear. WTF? i thought at first i had spilled brake fluid or something on it. nope, the tank had a fuel leak.

i cleaned it up and found a tiny crack at the spotweld which used to hold the bracket for the tank fairing. fixed it, but i'll ride around for awhile before i pull the tank off again to repaint it.

fixt.

i think you must mean unintended scuffs. besides no one will mistake the rat for an Aprilla if i don't paint it.

i still think you should bum some space on one of those CAF planes and fly the KLR out to Alberta in august. ya got desert camo on that bike, sorta milspec look, no one would know.

He does that so he knows how much electrical tape the V-Strom behind him will need to make repairs.

my brand new set of panniers...

ok, that's where the money for the panniers went. actually, there are 5 new TKCs, the other F&R set are shipped north.

on a budget, can't have everything, so i'll use my pelicans again with new mounts.

one of the spares i carry on a long range trip is a spare front brake line. rather than find another used OEM DRZ400 line, i got a new braided line, so the line i got with the forks will be the spare.

the DRZ brake line is a long one, so i expect to find improved feel.

yeah, well if ya hang with that KLR crowd, ya know that electrical tape, duct tape, and coat hanger wire will automatically end up on the Strom.

i carry extra fuel, and i could get 12L into these cans, worked pretty good the last couple years and i needed the fuel many a time.

with the ninja main tank i was carrying a little over 7 gal. the Versys tank used on this build is a 5 gal tank, so i still need fuel but i decided not to use the saddle cans this time. this bike is taller and i can see the need to provide more room for my legs and feet, plus i didn't want the weight of the cans and mounts when i am on a stretch where i wouldn't need fuel.

i decided to try one of these, hope it works out.

this is the 3 gal size, so i'll have 8 gal max if i fill it up. weighs little, and i can roll it up and pack it away when i don't need it.
