Yes... replaced by V-Twin Cruisers. Gotta look kool you know! People wanting to put on serious highway miles usually opt for something else tho don't they.

Rented a GL1800 for the day recently. Have to say that it is superior to my GL1200 in every single possible way - fabulous piece of machinery that I really enjoyed riding. My wife was following in the car and commented that she was surprised at the way I was tossing it around. Now working on justifying the upgrade since the 1200 is half hers.

Years ago thats how I came by my 1200 Aspencade. The owner borrowed a friends 1500 and his wife refused to get back on the 1200. Big difference between the Princess seats.

Not to go off-topic, but...
...I've been interested in the GL1500 for a long time and you can get pretty good buys on them these days...but the size is intimidating... How do you get used to dealing with the weight and size of the machine? Maybe that's better left for another thread. Keep the photos coming...your Goldwings are awesome and the hack rig offroad is impressive!! |

Well this thread came to late. I sold my ten year old 1800 a couple of months ago to buy an Electra Glide. There is no question the GL 1800 is the best handling cross country touer ever made. Sorry Harley. You look better and sound nice but for big mileage the GL's the way to go.
Now about off pavement. Three years ago I was riding Parsons Branch Road deep in the Smokey Mountains on my Dakar. About halfway through I came upon a guy with his wife having a picnic, they were 2-up on a 1800 Wing. I told him I had a Wing in my garage but would never take it this far into the woods. I saw them later at the Deal's Gap store so I know he made it out. He really earned the shirt. |

Already done - we spent the day on it riding the Great River Road in southern Minnesota and into Wisconsin. I've been subtly pointing out the drawbacks of the 1200... "Geez, I'm glad I could still get this part... this thing is getting pretty old... will need new tires soon." etc.

I posted in the old thread, still need to update pictures though. Here's one from last year.
![]() I try to stay off of 1800's. Still trying to put kids through collage so they can support me when I retire :)
