Also new from Garmin today, the StreetPilot 2720, their new â€œpremium GPS automotive navigator.â€ It isnâ€™t cheap, but $1,099 gets you a 3.8-inch, 454 x 240 pixel touch screen and text-to-speech capability (so it can actually tell you the name of the street youâ€™re supposed to turn on, rather than just â€œturn right 300 feet aheadâ€). The 2720 is also compatible with the GTM 10, a special FM receiver which lets you grab traffic and weather data over Clear Channelâ€™s radio network (the 2720 can use that data to reroute you around traffic jams).

When one of you gotta have the latest GPS guys goes out and gets the 2720, I'll take that old, useless 2610 off your hands cheap.

The Garmin iQue M3

Yeah, yeah, yeah, itâ€™s essentially a more budget version of the iQue M5 they introduced earlier this year, but Garminâ€™s new iQue M3 GPS Pocket PC does have a little something the M5 lacks: theyâ€™ve installed the same automotive-centric user interface found in their StreetPilot C series of handhelds that lets you easily navigate everything with your finger rather than a stylus (which can be a serious beyotch to handle while youâ€™re driving). The rest isnâ€™t so bad, either: a 3.5-inch, 240 x 320 pixel LCD touch screen, 32MB of ROM, 64MB of RAM, a 312MHz processor, and an SDIO expansion card slot. Should be out later this month. Garmin StreetPilot i3 and i2

The rock doesnâ€™t stop from Garmin this morning. We already hit up the iQue M3 and the StreetPilot 2720, next up are a couple of new automotive GPS navigators that are the entry-level tip, the StreetPilot i2 and i3. Both are smaller and come with a suction cup for mounting and a TransFlash memory card slot for loading up more map data, the only significant difference between the two is that the i3 has a 176 x 220 pixel, 32,000 color display while the i2 kicks it monochrome with a 176 x 240 pixel display. The i3 should be out next month with the i2 to follow in October.

Quest 2 is out also - $750 and shipping now.

Comes with City Select North America NT pre-loaded, plus an extra 140Mb of map storage memory.

Notice that apart from the i2,i3, m3 that they do not have a mapping CD/DVD
Why not include it and give people the choice to load on their PC ?
After all, they have already paid for the maps.

Anybody seen it and know how is the SP2720 screen - like the c320 ?
ie much sharper and finer than the SP2610 ?
