Is early October too late to tackle the CDT north to south? Anyone have experience? Advice?

Thanks, in advance, for the feedback.

Its a crap shoot. I was on it in late Sept. Check the Forever West link below. Weather was a 10 for us.

We're riding south to north from Colorado Sep 24th. If you don't have plans together would love to have company F800GS and 1200GS.

You should be OK other than some cold nites at altitude. It is a little early for snow but the rains should be about done. This is especially true of the South NM part of the CDT. Have fun.

you might need to divert off route down to lower elevation if snow hits but i can also be the best weather of the year.

Flooding from the monsoons has taken it's toll somewhat. FR 150 in NM on the CDT is closed due to a slide according to barko on the rockies regional forum. Still looks passable. May be fixed quickly though as people live on it.
