White Rim Trail

So I have heard a lot about the White Rim trail in Canyonlands National Park.
And since we was so close it was something we wanted to do. the only thing that sucked is that the trail wasnt all the way around. So we would have to ride a little more than half, then camp and then ride back the same way the next day.

Well back to the beginning.. We left Base Camp...

Drove on the cool road into Moab.

another place I wanted to see was the Horse shoe bend on colorado river.. Normally you have to pay to get into Dead Horse State Park. But if you look at the map there is a better way.. and even closer to the river..

and then we got to Shafer Trail.. Pretty cool road.

Its amazing..

How do you like this lunch spot??

Look at all these weird rocks

This is the White rim trail.. and in some places it really is the rim of the canyon.

What a view!

in the afternoon we was thinking.. a CRAP it going to rain!

But NO it was a sand storm! FUCK what do we do.. There is just NO cover here!

well that wasnt really true!! there was a toilet out in the middle of nowhere!! really there was nothing else!

HAHA funny

When it all cleared up we found a nice campsite!

Really nice campsite.. except for the mosquitoes!!! and there was a lot!
(Mini running away, trying not to get eaten!)

Did I mention some of the trail was right on the edge.

Arches National Park

In the morning we went out to check out Arches National Park.. two reason.. I really wanted to see the funny rock that looks like is almost falling.. and we have the National park pass... itw worth 80 dollers so we might as well use it!

That just looks so Funny

Delicate arch... be course we was lazy and warm so we didnt want to walk up there.

So after checking out Arches we found a really cool backroad out of the park.

even if it was in a pretty bad shape!

and for a little while it was so bad that we had to drive on the side of the road instead!

and after a good nights sleep we drove back into Nevada.. Nevada road can be REALLY boring.

and REALLY LONG

We did more than 400 miles that day!!! Our backs hurt so bad.. and when I say back I mean ASS

HUGE high tech Nevada gas station!

Good thing there is some good entertainment on the roadside!!

I mean.... WTF

I like this!

And after a long of riding we finally made it to our destination! Spencer hot springs!

Not to bad!

We was camping with a guy from CANADA EH..! He was retired so he spend most of his time traveling to different hot springs! and I had to tell you!! I have NEVER seen anyone SOOOOO tanned...! EVERYWHERE..............

Damn Esben, your pictures are looking amazing these days! What camera are you using now? I assume you're shooting in RAW format? The clarity is amazing, and the colors are just intense! Loving all the pictures and the new updates. Too bad the timing didn't work out to meet up again in Nevada, but unless something crazy comes up (like a job! ) I should be heading outa Virginia around the 2nd week of September.

Happy trails you two!

The next day we did the tourist thing.. drove to Virginia city to check that out!

So Mini just left today and got on a plane to Denmark! I am SOO going to miss her...

the last two day we have just be relaxing and spending time together...

monday we went to Joes cable cars that should have some really good burgers.. and they did... Really lean meat and very well cooked. and what was really cool is that inside the place you can not only see the cooks working but also the butcher cutting the steaks and grinding the meat.. thats why they dont call it burger patties.. but ground steak....

Next day we went to Ikes Place.. Mini has been talking about this place since last time we was there.. so it was really last chance.

for good buy dinner we went out for Sushi..

and just before we went to bed we all made a blanket that Mini could bring on the plane.

This morning Mini and I went to the airport and after checking in. We kissed good buy and she went through the security.... Right this moment she is on a plane.. properly sleeping with her new blanket on her way back to Denmark.

I have two cameras.
A Canon D10 for riding shots. Its pretty good and almost bulletproof.
even though I did have to buy a new one.
The last one I had hanging outside my jacket both our first trip and the trip to alaska last year.. so think about how many hours it has been out in the rain and dust.
The only thing that didnt work anymore was the flash.

also I have a Canon 7D with a 18-200 lens.
Mostly I just shoot in JPEG. Mostly be course my little netbook is too slow to handle RAW.
So I only take a few of my pictures in RAW.

Lets see if we can meet up when you get back on the road.

Good for bookmarking.....

This RR is great for setting aside in my bookmarks and digging out every few days. My ability to absorb it all at once is way beyond me anymore. Too dang old I guess. It's totally great though so thanks for all.....

Well so the last two weeks I have been dirt bike riding at the cabin im staying in.

Well also eating a few burgers!!!

Its a great area with miles and miles of trail. everything from easy forest service roads to the most difficult singletrails ever.
But most is some really fun single trails.

I have been mapping everything on my GPS to make a complete map of the area... but its not completely done yet.

I did have a little bike problems since i intake valves died after only 40 hours... CRAP.
But a least I could fix that.

But good thing I could use the 450 instead while I was waiting for parts.

also I put on a little LED light to have some more light when I was out in the evening.

I think this LED light might also have to go on the DRZ. The original head light on the DRZ isnt really that good.

As said.. its a great area... This is one of the places I had to give up...

there was a little bit of a hill..

Its funny how some people just leave their stuff in the woods.

one evening I found a really really long trail.. and it ended up with a great view.

and there was something old there.. Does anyone know what this used to be.. It was on the side of the canyon..

Enjoying the sunset.. That is life!

another evening ride down to a little lake..

the LED light really works out good!

it hasnt been raining for a long time.. so its really really dusty.. I have to clean air filter pretty much every day

that didnt work out for me so good.

and its Blackberry season.. So its great to stop once in while and get a snack.

also I found this.. It must be an old mine or something.

This weekend I had friends visiting.
So we went out for a little ride.

one was a real city girl.. Never been on a atv before.. and she proberly never will again.. not if I have anything to say about it.
Be course when I was on the side of the trail taking a picture, she panicked and instead of breaking she gave it full throttle.. and even though its just a little 250 it suddenly went pretty fast.... !
In a blick of an eye she turned my direction, and FUCK... she hit me.. and pinned me between the ATV and a tree!
Fuck that hurt.
But I did get the picture!! Just look at her heading right at me!

So the girls helped my up and got my bike and ATV back on the trail.
My leg was hurting...!! I really wanted to get the boot of but I was pretty sure I wasnt going to be able to get it back on.
I got back on the bike, got back out on the forest service road and drove all the way back to the cabin. I could fell my boot getting smaller on the way back... or maybe it was my leg getting bigger.
I got back, took the boot of.. put ice on the leg and waited for the girls..
When they showed up, we got in the car, drove to the hospital to have it checked out.

I already have steel and shit in the leg from an old injury so they couldnt help me and I have to see a specialist.
Just check out my xray. you can se all the old stuff in there and then there is 2 or 3 new fractures and some of the metal is bend I think!

So now im waiting to figure out what to do! This really sucks! No more riding for me for a while... I really wish I had broken my leg doing something cool..! that would have been much more fun...

Well thats it for now..I had hoped for a small RR in october but thats not going to happen!
