The ultimate V11 Sport. Picked up this Coppa Italia this week to replace my Rosso Corsa. I'm partial to Ohlins.

I let my wife talk me into selling the Rosso last summer with the idea of getting a Harley (just like her friend at work) so she could go riding with me. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Harley. Just not my cup of tea. So I set my sights on a new 8V Norge or Stelvio, but found this Coppa on ebay, about 3 hours away in PA. Went to visit and look at the bike in person. Showroom condition with a Power Commander III, FBF crossover, and airbox mod. I just had to have it, so I bought it. Will still look to get a used 8V Norge next year for me and the wife to travel on. She just doesn't know it yet.

I looked real hard at the Coppa pictured below in Louiville KY. Talked to the guy on the phone and made an offer which he declined. Ended up spending about $1000 less for my Coppa than he would accept for his. Put the money toward a new trailer. I travel extensively on the pipeline and need a way to take my bike with me and to provide a covered garage.

My advice to any would be V11 owners - get them while they are available, because they are hard to find.

It may or may not be the ultimate V11, but the Coppa Italia's forward protruded fairing certainly makes it one of the uglier ones.

A local Coppa owner in my town re-installed the mini fairing close up to the guage cluster, ,,more better.

There was a thread, once upon a time, on the V11 forum from a guy in Germany who did a nose job on the Coppa. I think it was somewhat complicated. I think he had to use a different gauge cluster and mount it on the forks , or something like that. It did look more attractive, however. Nevertheless, the Coppa paint scheme and the Ohlins are the two best attributes. Plus, all the niggles have been worked out by MG.

This is my one from down here in Wellington, New Zealand.
Had my 2002 for nearly 5 years now and can't think of any other bike I would replace it with.
Was originally a burgundy model but I got repainted in red. Looks a lot better.

(and yes to all you VERY observant people out there, the eagles are on the wrong side on the tank (facing backwards !!) but gives me a laugh so I didn't bother to get it fixed)
