Why?
That's an interesting setup with the roof rack. Why did you change to the cargo box? Was it too much in the wind?
I'm thinking of doing the same on top for stuff that is long or awkward (like an EZ-UP, gear bags, spares...) but the cargo boxes hadn't occurred to me. On the face of it it seems brilliant for wind resistance.

Little ones I just walk up under power. For the Wing I use a bigger ramp and power up while on the bike. Actually the Wing sits lower than my other bikes so it is easier to keep my feet down/stable. Getting the bikes up is not a problem since the load HT is so low.
Like pickup loading, I just put the trailer wheels in the gutter and I almost can push it up from a driveway. Frankly the best thing about this unit is........................ and the way it tows. Twohondas screwed with this post 08-31-2011 at 09:46 PM |

Just redecked ours with left over bleacher aluminum planking. Added the box on the front and some motorcycle chocks from Harbor Freight.

Nice trailers......What is the average spacing (center to center) of your wheel chocks? I have a 48" wide trailer I setting up to carry two KLR's. I'm thinking 36-40" spacing.

Steve - That is one gorgeous trailer! Axel seems quite far back. How is the tongue weight?

Thanks, not too bad better when loaded with bikes. Most of the deck off the back is extra storage. I just added a tailgate to the back today and finished bolting the decking down.
I made sure the bikes were shifted further back to take some of the weight off the tongue. Loaded 2 bikes and took it for a test today. It rides great. Towing with a 99 Subaru is not the fastest way to get any where. But the 05 XT Turbo Outback will do just fine. |

I've got a 5x8 Carry-On utility trailer like this one: http://www.carry-ontrailer.com/products/show/5X8G/
They sell them at Tractor Supply, Lowes, etc. for $550-700 depending if it's on sale. Put down 1/2 plywood over the mesh floor and you're good to go. It's only 350 lbs., and has a fold down rear gate, loading doesn't get any easier than that. Easy to tow with any vehicle, including my Mazda 3 hatch. Carry-On rates it as a 1650 lb. payload, more than enough for 2 heavy or 3 light bikes. If you can live without a folding trailer these work great for the price, and can haul anything other than bikes too.
