Thanks guys.
I guess not living in OH for over 20 years makes me new here, but I have been on ADVrider for a while. The garage is sort of from a past life where money was much easier to come by & I have a great BMW dealer. No good KTM dealer & a Ducati dealer was over 200 miles away. While I am an asshole & possibly a Beemer Geek, I am not a Beemer Geek asshole...............There is a difference. I have had a bunch of other stuff too, including two KLRs. (so right off the bat you know I'm a cheap bastard too) Just getting back into the swing of things in OH.

Sorry. I thought I made it clear that I needed A spring...
It should take care of the "how hot is TOO hot" debate though... Now, how cold, wet, foggy, dark, snowy, dewey, humid, dry, dusty, pollen-y, there's a question...

Normally you could blame that stuff on me, like "I'm ready to ride, so here's some shit weather for the next two weeks" kind of karma, but my bike is down and I'm busy so this is quite a new twist.
BTW, I just pulled off a brand new DID VM2 x-ring chain from my Strom with less than 4k on it, already puking red rust from the rollers. Luckily it's still under warranty, but that's pathetic. Same cleaning/lube ritual and adjustment method that gave me 29,000 on the OEM DID. I think I'll buy an RK and give the replacement to someone I don't like. |

The EK replacement I put on was doing quite well when I got rid of it. My chain maintenance isn't the best, so I don't expect chains to last more than 12-15k. Are you running an auto-oiler or just a strict routine with the DuPont teflon lube?

I tried to do chain maintenance on my bike too, couldn't find the damn chain though. ![]() No weekend riding for me. I had to "car" it the whole time. On my way back to C'Bus, I got this strange feeling of doom, so, I slowed way down and stayed right. "Hmm, look at that small airplane circling way up above." Yup. Tagging from the sky. The Highway Patrol did not get any dough from me. Sneaky lil Bastards. Morning! EJ

Labor day lunch ride
Rode to VA yesterday to try some BBQ that has been receiving good reviews. The reviews are warranted! Due South BBQ just outside of Roanoke VA, knows what they are doing. Rib meat was very good, tons of smoke flavor, thick smoke ring, and the meat was able to be pulled off the bone clean, without falling off on its own. In addition, their home made sauces were nearly perfect. Being in VA, they have to make every type of sauce to satisfy the masses. Their vinegar sauce (which I generally avoid) had so many different spices, it was thick... and very good. Their sweet tomato based, and spicy tomato based were both excellent too. To top it off, they have crazy good side dishes that you just can't find around here. If I had to mention something that I didn't think was as good as I have had... it would be the mustard sauce. It was average at best, too much yellow mustard taste, not enough spice/heat. Overall... awesome BBQ within a days ride.
The ride down is great too. We did 760 miles, but made a stop at a second BBQ joint in WV for dinner. I won't bore you with our route, but you can find about whatever you want between Huntington, WV and Roanoke, VA. The last hour takes you along a rather wide section of the New River. Here are my FB posts: ![]() Notice I did not review this one... for good reason ![]() Oh yeah, it rained on us for 15 hours

![]() I'm also surprised with the Versys. For what it is and how much they cost, that thing is a little 3rd gear backroads rocket ship.
