I'll let you know what I find out there in gun shop land.

The "Boss" here in the house don't like the skunks neither, and gave me the go-ahead to go gun shopping - I don't want to miss out here.
What the heck! Weren't you the one talking me out of shooting my subterranean shed dwelling VT skunks?

I may have gotten rid of mine simply applying copious quantities of moth balls. Get a scope with good light gathering because mine only show themselves after dusk.

If it's not an Accutrigger, put a Timney in it. I actually prefer the Timney to the AT.

Yep,I've been trying to trap them farther from the house, no go. Last year I trapped right next to the house, and it ended badly + stinky.

This time, I'm going to get them in the back yard, farther away. Spine shot is what the old timers tell me - paralyze 'em - no spray.

Last year I used a 22lr and it didn't work fast enough, if you get my drift.....

I watched them until about 6:30 this morning, they aren't too scared.

With that uber nice gear I was fairly accurate out to 500 yards (not the shot gun! )

older winchester model 70 in 22-250 with a big bull barrel and huge scope for $725

Being so close to deer season, .223 is hard to find in a non-tactical style around here.

I'm almost leaning towards the 111 at this point, I like wood stocks....
I may have to check out the Savage 111. I've read good things about Savages in recent years. When I was a youngun they were considered crap, but now they have gained a rep for being accurate and good for a very reasonable price.

As Sniper says, the 22-250 is expensive to shoot and is also something of a blaster. You'd be just as well off to use your 308 as one of those.

I went back for the Savage 111 - turns out the scope is a 6-18x40 Simmons, and will do just fine for my needs. Damn gun looks like brand new.

Very nice gun. Did they include the tactical vise grips so you can rack the slide?

I've never seen a tighter production gun. Built like a damn safe!

Is the price tag on the scope for good luck or something? Oh, and the best shooting stock hunter I ever owned was a Savage Model 110 CL in .243.

It's a sighting in label with load info and trajectory info, drop values, etc.... gun is sighted 0 at 200 yards. I'll get the sticker off the scope somehow, it is unsightly.
