Glad you two are together now.
Sam, if it makes you feel any better it's hot in Boise, in the 90s. I know it's hotter where you are but it's hot here for this time of year. I'm headed back North. |

Sunday 25/9
Hola everyone, doing a little catchup as I've been in need of recovery.
Day 2 Sept. 23 Nothing really new to add other than it was a very hot ride, almost stifling going through Vegas and Laughlin NV was 106 to 108 made that tough in riding gear. Ely NV to Wickengurg AZ; 550 ish miles today. I think I was fighting off heat exhaustion all day, been sucking down Gatorade at every gas stop, didn’t pee all day either, so I knew I was barely keeping the heat stroke at bay. Slept like a log. Day 3 Got up early and hit the road before daylight to beat the heat going into Phoenix, and glad I did as I-10 had a couple miles of grid lock at 7 am bike almost over heated while stuck in traffic; On a Saturday morning WOW imagine a work day! Made it to the predefined rendezvous Point in Tempe to wait for Radioman, Denny’s. We Bs’d for a bit he ate and we headed on the final 120 miles to Tucson, we both agreed the heat like to suck the life out of us so we are extending our layover for a day. Next to do some maintenance, and self re-hydration . Mark and I in the parking lot of Denny's with a new ADV associate David whom Mark struck up a conversation with. Damn I'm getting fat ![]() Arrived At Mark's brother casa .... in the neck of time. My total to here 1059.5 miles ![]() Radioman and his brother catching up ![]() Sunday morning Mark catching up and trying to get his International paper work in order. ![]() I walked out to the bike, need to take care of some issues, like this front tire; it served me well. ![]() Need to do an oil change too Did I mention it Mui calinante down here. think I'll go take a nap, as Mark has us going over to some fellow ADv'ers this afternoon for cervesa and maintenance on the bikes and possibly a BBQ

Might consider a Camelback; makes a world of difference to stay hydrated as you ride. Have a great trip. Copper Canyon in October is wonderful.

Thanks, I did consider that as I have 2 hanging in my garage. I just didn't want to have it on my back for month or two. I had 2 liters with me just didn't seem to be enough and Gatorade.

Just vertically challenged
And I thought black was supposed to make us thinner!!!
Sam, all you need to do is add 4-5 inches (in height) and you would be thinner. Safe travels Doug

Sam & HK
Sam:
Great getting to yuk it up with you and Mark. Skip enjoyed showing off his Pentons to someone who remembered them intimately from days gone by. I am sure y'all will have some awesome adventures along your journey. The Cat wants to see the Salt Flats so I hope you take her down that a way. I found this thread last night and after reading I went back to your first post and clicked on Erica's link. I am on page 15 of 109. I wonder if I'll get the oil changed in my KTM today. Subscribed

Back at you! You two are great
For everything the shop, tools, help, tips and Spirits and dinner. I thoroughly enjoy the evening bantering, yuking and in general being happy I could accommodate. Yes, Skip has an awesome collection of Penton's probably the most I've seen in one location since new in a showroom... I remember that.It sure felt good having a decent tire on the front now, no more bucking down the highway. So, you started reading Erica's ride... you so not going to get anything done today. Quote:

Sept 26 Monday
Yesterday, was a rest up day and then a afternoon invitation From yzfcathy and her side kick Skip to offer up the use of tools, and a shade tree to service our bikes. I changed my front tire and Skip showed me another way to remount the tire on the rim, hum, old dogs can learn a new trick. Thanks Skip!! Then it was on to Air filter change and since I was undressing Moya I got a oil change in. Lesson learned, trying to remount a 990 tank full of gas PITA on that bottom bolt
![]() BTW Skip has an AWESOME collection of restored Penton's in the house. I'll see if I can get Radioman to post up some shots. That evening around the dinner table the talk turned to the Ride both Marks and mine and well one thing lead to another, where I mentioned how I'd love to see the Salt Flats of Bolivia where upon our host mentioned she knew someone wanting to go there too, so now I have a companion, so we assured her "Hello Kitty" will make it to the Salt Flats. ![]() ![]() Today we are finalizing the jaunt to the border. Radioman has to get his bike into the shop in the morning for one more service so we'll head for Douglas tomorrow afternoon and stay there the night crossing Wednesday morning' Today we took the bikes out for a little shake down and to scrub the new front and a once over. ![]() ![]() ![]() I took pictures of Mark and he took shot of me.
