i want to thank everyone for their opinions on my idling problem.
MY problem however is that my mechanical skills are................. well, let's just say that what i DON'T know about"resetting throttle position sensor and idle actuator positioning" would fill at least 20 volumns. before i call on my mechanic friends, i was wondering if the dealer will do any of this. my bike is still under warranty. thanks again.

I have one, brand new, never been in the bike, got it as a warranty replacement and never put it in. I have been considering having John at Moto Pro re-spring it for my weight and selling off my 2 X-Challenge air shocks, but I am still on the fence. The shock is actually at Moto Pro waiting for me to make up my mind, but I could probably be persuaded to part with it, then I could fund finishing my Husqy for conversion. If you still have my number call me if you like.

BTW, does anyone have a stock shock with the preload circuit blown sitting in their garage? I seem to remember that someone has one that got "Snookered" up...

I was wondering if anyone knew how to release this collar? Do I need a spring compressor or is there another way to do it?
Any help would be appreciated. KR |

Are you wanting to replace the bump stop? If yes, I've been told that it can't be done. Don't know if that's true.

I have never had either of my BMW's in an actual BMW dealership for service, so I don't know. I would guess that some dealers would frown on some of my suggetions. Cleaning the idle actuator & throttle body and resetting the TPS would be no worries. I am sure they could install a booster plug, change the battery, spark plugs, air filter, etc.
They may take issue with removing the canister or re-rerouting the crankcase vent but this depends entirely on your dealership. I have heard of some dealerships removing the canister because they can cause some fueling problems if clogged. The things MOST LIKELY to fix your problem are the cleaning and resetting of the idle actuator and removing the canister. If it is under warranty I wouldn't change anything until they take a look at it as they should fix it under warranty. Xfrog Quote:

I have never heard that removing the canister can help alleviate cold stalling issues. I still have my canister and have had stalling issues come and go. When I got the second battery warrantied the stalling issue went away, but has since returned. When I had the bike at the dealer for the 6000mi service they cleaned the throttle body and idle actuator.
I suppose its time to remove my canister (something I've intended to do for a while). Can anyone tell me the procedure for resetting the TPS? I searched pretty vigorously in all the pertinent X-threads, but couldn't get it to turn up. This time I will save it!
