9 Days, 2 WR's, a Tar Heel and a Yank
I don't know how, but I convinced my North Carolina riding buddy Tyrebitr, that a couple of weeks of dirt riding his WR in NH and Maine this summer would be good for his disposition. Not that his disposition is bad mind you, but it's hotter than....well...hell in North Carolina in August. Even when it's hot here, it's still better than 106deg. NC heat.
Our rough plan was to ride as many dirt roads between my house in Mid-Western NH to Northern NH, and then on to Western Maine as far as time and roads would allow us.
The WR's are new to both of us, so no wise cracks about my packing job. I still haven't figured out how to get all my camping crap, etc. on the bike, and this was my first extended trip with the WR. Tyrebitr is much smarter than me, and he simply bought the Wolfman luggage to do the job, but I'm just too cheap or dumb I guess, it takes me awhile to figure it out.
Here's tyrebitr's bike about ready to leave, I'm not showing you mine.
We wound our way out of mid-western NH, mostly on dirt but, had to make the obligatory stops that any visiting biker needs to see
It was a beautiful day so after Cherry Mountain and Dolly Copp roads, we scrambled over to Mt Washington
The visibility was very good, and there were lots of people at the top....always a bit of a downer but who can blame them?
I'm convinced tyrebitr was a confederate general in a past life. That's the cog railway in the immediate background for those of you who might not know, and Wildcat Ski Area in the far background.
We ended up at one of my favorite campsites in NH, on the Androscoggin River
Citizens are asleep, and the media plays a bedtime story.
