Pitbull Trailer Restraint System
I do need to trailer my bikes from time to time and I just ran across this product:
http://www.pit-bull.com/mm5/merchant...ler_restraints Do any of you guys have any experience or first hand knowledge of how well this works?

My .02...... best damn product on the market. Pit Bull makes great products and has awesome customer service.
![]() We run two of these in the race hauler and have put thousands of miles on them over the last two seasons. Also have friends that run them and nothing but praises. You will not be disappointed. |

One of my favorite online moto shops, sportbiketrackgear.com, has a really nice video review of that. Follow this link, click on the one that applies to your bike(s) And watch. I think that the only difference is that each make or model may have a different pin size.

I used one of these when I had my gsxr.
You can take it with you to the track too. You still need straps though... http://www.baxleycompanies.com/Sportchock.html |

Well I am now all set to haul my bike to north Georgia to visit family Thanksgiving week and I plan to get in a little riding on some roads with a little elevation for a change!
I'm liking the Pitbull system so far but I will know much more in a couple of weeks. One concern is rust. My trailer is open and sits out in the weather. ![]() ![]()

I just ordered one of these for my 600 lb Vmax and plan on getting another for my DRZ.
Question on the install.. I can hit a aluminum joist with two of the floor mounting bolts in my toyhauler, but only plywood for the second two bolts. Will that be strong enough? Or do I need to gain access to the area and weld in another aluminum floor joist or plate? |

The Pitbull system is only as strong as the floor that it is bolted to. I added a section of angle iron that runs the width of the trailer underneath the 2x6 planks. It feels more solid and gives peace of mind.

@ausfahrt,
Are you going to add any tie-downs? Is the front wheel tied to the chock so it can't bounce out? |

It maybe unnecessary dangler, but bikes pop out of straps all the time. Pitbull is the cleanest setup with only four 3/8 holes in the floor when its gone. And it doesn't compress your suspension at all. One person just rolls it into the receiver and done. |

Nope. As Rebar noted, the suspension is not compressed so it absorbs the bumps normally. I suppose that if you lofted the trailer over a large bump that the front tire could hop oot of the chalk but I have now towed well over 1000 miles without issue. I only have the chalk there because I haul other bikes as well and the Pitbull attachment piece is bike specific.

I may have a clearance issue. My custom Vmax has a kerker, so its not a issue for that one.. But my stock Vmax's exhaust is about 1 1/2" away even after I removed the black T handle..
![]() ![]() How much will the rear suspension compress during trailering without anyone sitting on it and speeds less than 70mph? Any Idea how to limit the travel during towing? |
