I recently replaced the digitizer on my 550 and it worked perfectly for a few thousand miles. Now it's acting like the screen is being pushed all the time. Anyone have any ideas?

A regular service Item?

The last one worked for 13 months. The original Garmin one lasted 24 months Anyone else have any input on this subject? I have been ever so gentle with the last replacement worrying somehow that the original failure was my fault. For such an expensive GPS I am disappointed to say the least. And don't begin to mention the so called 'waterproof' cradles

Replaced my screen last night in my Zumo 450. Very easy to do. As others have stated, it is intimidating until you do it once....
Works great with no leaks. Tested that today.....

Just did my Zumo 550, exactly as described. I didn't have any trouble with screen degrading over time; I had an off and some part of me, the dirt, rocks or trees scratched the screen.

The screen on my Zumo is also locking up. This week the XM radio started changing stations by itself. Could this be related to the bad digitizer????
Where is the best place to order the correct size digitizer?

I ordered this size from this seller.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LCD-Touch-Scr...#ht_1803wt_689 Fit perfectly, with the correct connector (no soldering required). Took about 10 days, standard shipping, to Canada. |

I recently replaced the touchscreen on my 550 and within 2 weeks, I was experiencing issues again. I am getting phantom presses again but only in the top right corner of the screen so when on the map screen it constantly zooms in as far as it will go. It is not recognizing other locations on the screen a lot of the time either.
I have found that this is most prevalent when I leave the zumo on the bike overnight and it is parked outside (when camping etc). Sometimes it sorts itself out once the day warms up and sometimes not. Very odd and annoying! I have another new touchscreen I can put on (I ordered two... just in case ), but I was wondering if anyone else is going through this and if there was any other option before I scrap this screen?

My Zumo is getting worse, on top of the touch function of the screen not working, the gps screen locks up updating the map while moving, the XM stations will change suddenly (always goes to HLN), some type of error log screen popped up, and several of the buttons don't work for example the volume button.
So, if I go ahead and open up the unit and replace the digitizer (79mmx 64.5mm ordered from goodsupply0889), is this going to solve the problems above or do I need to send it in to Garmin for $150?

It is most likely that.

Garmin will not take it back if you open it.

the up side of sending it to garmin is ( was in my case anyway )
that they send a new ( refurbished ?? ) unit that has all the brackets, wiring etc...

How long did it take to receive the refurbished unit? How is it holding up? I heard that some of the refurb units failed in a short time.
