I have a sub-mount with a Scotts damper, and a clamp on post. You can probably get one directly from Scotts (assuming that is the damper you have). Works great. There is a post for sale in the FM, but it is from an '08-'11. He has the measurements listed for head tube diameter, or you could call Scotts and see if they are the same.

Headlight guard? What headlight are you trying to protect? The stock candle of aftermarket? I wouldn't worry about protecting the stock light. Save the money and put it towards a TrailTech X2 or something else should you break yours.

Okay my '08 250xcfw forks look just like in Haynes and on YouTube. I can work on them

But...

My 2007 525 xcw has a new to me fork cap

. It is perfectly round (no 48mm or 50mm) with a 24mm hex in the center that has a "Setting Knob + Screw" in the center of it. No holes for a peg spanner.

I've looked at the fiche and think I know but why break something if I can ask a bunch of FF's who are more experience in these matters than I?

Question: Loosen the cap with the 24mm hex on the cap?

s this qualify me for Dumb Question O' The Week ?

yes loose the 24mm nut and the fork cap will turn with it .

Picking up my 2006 525exc this afternoon.
It has 170 hours on it and 6800kms.

The guy has receipts for a full top & bottom rebuild at 2500km due to some issue, so hope that doesnt happen again.

Rode it home and its a bloody rocket. And actually very well composed on the freeway, and not revving its tits off like my DRZ would.
I think with an aftermarket seat is all thats needed to make this bike pretty comfortable.

Just finished prepping this '06 525 EXC, only 17hours on the clock and left in a barn for 2 years unused

I've had a lot of bikes and this is going to go down as one of my all time favorites. Only 30 miles on it so far, but I am in love already. It runs on a steady diet of oil changes and hundred dollar bills, but it's worth it!

Well I have 540 on the way built by DJH so your welcome to come and have a go on it when its all fitted and running.
I had the choice between a 540 and 570 and it was very hard to turn down the 570 but we thought it best considering the bikes use and k's it will do.

I cant wait till it gets here.
