Got his one last year up in the Pittsburgh NH area:

Sat in a blind from before dawn to dark for 5 days, he walked out with 2 hours left in the last day. It had just stopped snowing and was colder than a welldigger's ass.

Not a huge buck but I was happy. He dressed out at 149.

Please don't flame away. I live in Florida so I don't understand the hatred of Coyotes. Are they not just normal predators? Down here we have eliminated all the predators and now have a real job trying to balance animal population.

I think it depends on where you are.

Up here the population is out of control and they've played hell with the deer population as well as household pets.

They come onto my property quite a bit and I drop them when I can.

This really isn't the place for this but I will answer imo. Up until the 90's I hunted and trapped coyotes and other furbearers for pelts and the population was healthy and regulated. Then the fur market went to shit because it is now bad I guess. The population went through the roof and I now trap and hunt them for land owners and there is almost no season or limit and a lot more are in very bad health and have all but depleted the wind game birds.

I've always respected the coyote but when you pull out its ony predator it will take over.

What was it's predator, a wolf? The balance is always fragile. Sorry end of high jack.

I think you missed the point the predator was man. Good,bad whatever you think people killed them for fur for many,many years the coyote adapted to give more offspring then the hunting stopped stopped because there was no market.

In ranch country, where I live, coyotes are responsible for quite a few calf deaths. Also, when there are a lot of coyotes around the cattle get edgy and don't put on the weight that they should, cutting seriously into the living of the rancher.

With the large population of coyotes there is also a lot of disease. Just about every coyote I shot last year had visible mange and who knows what other invisible diseases.
