www.ktmusa.com has the 2012 KTM 990 Supermoto R listed as the only "supermoto" in its line up again.
They have the 990 Supermoto T listed as a "traveling" bike.
I wonder which one is selling better nationwide?

Let us know how you like the power pure, Al, especially the front one.
The rear will probably evaporate pretty quickly under that kind of power.

Fantastic!

What brand are those crashbars? I'm thinking about buying one of those, in your experience what do you recommend?

I've had my SMR for a few weeks now and went through a lot of the usual mods for the engine and controls, and now it's time for the suspension. From the dealer it had the "normal" settings which I moved to the "comfort" settings and it still seems pretty harsh. With all my gear on I am around 200 lbs so probably average to a bit heavy for this bike. I guess I'll have to stop being lazy and measure the sag to get properly started on dialing in the settings and spring rates. My major complaint right now is the harsh front end. My prior RC51 with full Ohlins was a dream compared to this bike. The suspension on that bike was firm but not harsh. In addition to moving the settings to "comfort" I took two turns of preload out of the front and two more clicks of compression out, but without measuring the sag its mostly a waste of time.
Anyone else have suspension setup advice?

I am about the same weight. and had to remove all the preload of the forks to get about 45 mm of rider sag. The spring rates on the SMR are not balanced front to rear. The front is ok, but the rear is under sprung. same thing on my super duke.
I was lucky enough to have Dave Moss set up my suspension when I first got the bike.
These are my current settings.

Front fork. free sag 25 mm, rider sag 45mm
compression damping 15 clicks out
rebound 13 clicks out
forks pushed down into the top clamp 5 mm. ( helps with adding a bit more trail).
Using stock 7.5 springs , preload full out

Rear shock. free sag 20 mm, rider sag 42mm
high speed compression damping 2 turns out
low speed compression 10 clicks out
rebound 12 clicks out.
using stock 140 rear spring.
Note. I have the Akrapovic slip on exhaust, which is 19 pounds lighter than stock.

Overall a good balance of comfort and control. smoother/plusher than my Superduke. but not as smooth/plush as my friends SMT.
Hope this helps

Yeah I saw that.
They just put the 2012 lineup page up last week.
A couple of weeks ago it still had the 2011 lineup.
They cut way back on street models here in USA.

Go to the one for the UK.
They are getting a 690 SMC- R with orange wheels,
a longer stroke for an actual 690cc (instead of 654cc),
and 70 horsepower!

They are also getting the 990 Supermotos.

Actually you can go to:

www.ktm.com

. . . and click on any country and see what they are getting for 2012.
