You may find that a little running will bring that compression in where it belongs. With those miles though you had better pull the oil pan and look for bits of the cam chain tensioner. A lot of these old SOHC's are starting to have issues with the old rubber on those coming apart.

BTW, I've had my K6 since 1978. My first big bike :)

Quoted for truth. Here's my '68 CB350's cam tensioner after about 25,000 miles. I am doing a top end rebuild now.

Might as well post these here. I was just in Michigan delivering a bed I had built. I stopped by to see a friend of my dad who is a motorcycle collector (among other things). Here is some stuff in his basement. I did not get a chance to get pics of what he has in his storage building, but I've been in there before and there was a line of bikes, each under cover from the front to the back, side by side—more BSAs, a couple World War Two Harleys, Honda Trail 70s, more Harleys of different years and models.

And the cream of the crop:

Cheers,

Mike

That is a beautiful motorcycle in every way. Although I've gotten turned off to the Harley lifestyle thing, this bike rises above it all. Fantastic.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I love this bike as well and I am happy to say this bike runs as good as it looks.

I can assure you I am completely turned off by the HD lifestyle scene. But I spend as much time around the vintage motorcycle scene as I can, Euro, Jap. British you name it. I've met some great people that share my passion and enjoy life the way I do. Very few around the HD "scene" nowadays even understand this motorcycle which is sad and stunning to me.

Those CB's bring back some memories - cut my teeth on one in the mid 80's.

Saw this old scoot up at Iron Horse a fe weeks ago.

Love this site and everything on it but gotta admit to being a Harley tragic. Love the Black pan - that is sweet. Find this one interesting too - WL with pommy gearbox & peanut tank amongst other mods. That would be a fun toy . .

Nice, that was my first street bike -

At the time I semi cafe'd it - put low super bars on, removed the 30lbs of chrome racks and sissy bars, and added a cheap bullet fairing.

(sold it just the way it looked for $450 kick myself now)

While we are on the topic

Since we seem to be on the topic of CB750s here's my project for the winter. First big snowfall today so I'll soon be working on it.

It's a 1978. It's hasn't run for 11 years but it looks to be all there and in OK shape.Only $100. I think I'm going to do a stock restore on this one. My first CB750 turned into more of a custom bobber.

Hey guys, nice 550's!

Here is my cb500 taken when I was 16 years old or so (~1977). I think this tire smoke shot is in the high school parking lot befor the drivers education class! Thats my Bell Magnum motocross setup... the jacket is a Schott. A little too big then but way too small for me now, haha! It was either full throttle or full brakes. I traded it sometime later for a 400 Maico Magnum.
