![]() ![]() Great pictures! Keep them , and, of course, the narrations coming. ;^) The deer shot was awesome. But, I did notice when I was on 25 South out of Hollister, they just cross the road, then stop and watch you. Did raise goose bumps as to what to expect next. Here in South Louisiana, they do run away, Too many crazy cajuns that are hungry. ;-)

Snakes.
Snakes are carnivores, which means they will eat only meat including each other. Some snakes are hunters while others will lie in waiting to ambush their prey. They can be very sneaky and will try to trick their victims into coming to them. Desert living snakes will hide under the sand and wait for something yummy to wander by. The smallest of all snakes, the Thread snake AKA the Dentalfloss snake, eats the eggs of ants and centipedes and also eats whole donkeys. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Dentalfloss snake.... ![]() Getting ready to strike the next large victim..... ![]() Luckily, I had an apple in my bag I could throw at it, thwarting the attack..... ![]() I also made a few new friends.... ![]() This happens to be a very special breed of wild donkeys born with halters on... I named them Stinky, Stinkier and Stinkiest.... ![]() The Stinkiest... ![]()

![]() ![]() After like 5 minutes of encouragement..... ![]() That's it???? Serious?? ![]() C'mon.. You can do better than that... ![]() Stinkiest wanted me to hold the apple while he took little bites.. Was pretty cute. ![]() And then the other 2 caught wind of what was going on, but apparently the stinkiest was the ringleader and stinky and stinkier kept their distance proper. ![]()

Heh... pretty darn cute. Usually you just squash the apples with your feet. Round apples + bovine teeth are somewat tough going. I used to have a ranch, tossing squashed apples over the fence would bring most every cow available on the place... running. The 'boss' cows would keep the other cows away from their apples.

Hi Peach
That building that you came across going east out of Bodie was once a stage stop / toll road station, going farther east and you would have come upon Austin (once the capital of NV/ and or the Calif county seat. There was some dispute about were the border of CA/NV was at the time) Not much there now as mining and salvagers (during ww2) have removed most of the town if not all it by now (it was mostly brick) But there is a very interesting grave yard there with some very resent plantings and a Nv state Senator. Also that road was the main road during the day that most of the heavy mining equipment was brought in on. This is all from my brain clutter locker. Mark. |

Fantastic photographs Rivka. They really give a flavour of the place, although it looks too damn hot for me!
![]() And a happy (very) belated birthday too.
