I stand corrected. Carlos works with Matt Capri at triumphperformanceusa.

Me too but did they not just get bailed out by the GB government - I would be a shame to see another rebirth fail.

Please tell me I am wrong...

Hello,
some of you might already have realized that I drop in every once in a while, sometimes discussing scramblers with you. Perhaps one or the other remembers the pics of my yellow 1981 Triumph Tiger Trail, the last Meriden Scrambler. This bike and my soft spot for bikes like this always brings me back to this thread.
Yesterday my wife surprised me: She rides a Suzuki GN 400 since 1981, of which we own two since some 10 years. In a German forum covering these bikes is an actual discussion about alternatives with classic attitude and not too much horsepower. There I mentioned the Italian Scrambler Satcen introduced on page 951 and showed a pic of it. Iris looked over my shoulder and said something like 'Wow, this is a very nice bike indeed!'
I showed the other pics in that link to her and she even liked it more. Sadly, we can't afford another bike. She even thought of selling her 1972 Bonni which we got as a basket-case-job some 20 years ago. And that proved to be so much more destroyed than it looked at first sight. She also realized, that the money out of this sale wouldn't be enough.
But it's very nice to see, that after a pause of about 6 years while caring for her mother, who suffered from multiple sclerosis, she is still and again interested in motorbikes. And I can confirm you: she would only choose a bike that's pretty in her eyes.
To put in a bit of my own point of view: This Scrambler is very much how I would build it if I was at the helm. Seat, rear frame-loop and rear-light are ingenious! There are also some, but just minor, drawbacks. I would have chosen a lamp-shell, that's not so bulbous. The front-fender doesn't really meet the front-wheel's diameter. And I never liked these bottle-shaped silencers, I'd prefer a megaphone-type or as my lady mentioned yesterday something like a Harley-Sporty styled silencer. Perhaps a tank in two colours (white with red stripe or something like that) and without the knee-pads would look 'lighter' ...
My lady is a bit camera-shy, here's a spy-shot of her behind my Suzuki Big from the distance ...

And one with her bike just some 20 kms around our back-door.
I think, she'd look great on that Scrammy. And I know, she would make good use of it ...
Kind regards, Bambi

chrome crank case covers

Guys, I've seen photos of the scramblers with chrome crankcase covers, Triumph don't list them to suit the scrambler/270 crank engine. My mate asked the dealer today about fitting the chrome covers to his 2011 & the dealer said the covers won't fit.

I think the America has the 270 crank & chrome covers, so has anyone fitted the chrome covers to a Scrambler & were there any problems

Terry

Couple of months ago my scrambler came out like thist from the paint shop... She was matt green originally

BTW, tonight I am obliged to change the rear stock Bridgestone, and I decided to try the Continental Twinduro... it just surprises me that after 5000Km the tire is just so flat... is not too early for a change? . Happened to any of you?

Hi Terry!
I don't know about the EFI later models, but I replaced my 07 black engine covers with a set of polished aluminum Bonneville covers from the same circa. They fit. I believe I had to make a slight modification because the breather tube wasn't the same, but the cases are interchangable with Bonnie and Thrux. I remember that the dealer didn't think I could do it because the parts numbers are different. But I just reasoned that they didn't know what they were talking about, as usual, ha, ha! Some guy over at rat.net is selling chrome everything. Might be worth your while to check it out.
