Yaks
Yo Doc.
are any of these $199 boats worth messing with? http://fayar.craigslist.org/boa/2733788032.html wife says she wants to goto creeks and rivers and paddle, but I figure she will use it at the lake more than anywhere else. remind me again, how the length of the kayak determines how it handles slow vs swift water?

I looked at kayaks last summer at southtown sporting goods. They had good prices and the people there are super!

If you are going to buy a new boat, the outfittter in Garfield is about the cheapest place to go. However, there are plenty of good used kayaks out there that you can pick up for a lot less money than a new one and they are just about as good as new ones. The kayaks today are made of plastic and hold up pretty well to abuse.

Aaarrrgh
I grenaded the engine on the Tiger yesterday. Not sure what the cause is till I get it apart, but it's got a rattle in the lower end. The oil light came on as I was running along just over 100 and then the noise. There's oil in the motor so I'm confused. I guess I now have a winter project.
