Wow! They really love those GS's over there. More than two-to-one above the next best seller.
I guess that pretty much says it all. |

Is this chart for all bikes sold in Italy or just 1200GS competition? Also - Where did you get this info from? Thanks
QUOTE=tagesk;17474163]Sales first 10 month of 2011 in Italy (the biggest marked in Europa:
The Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom is climbing, and was the most sold bike in October (competing with the more than double-price 12GS). [TaSK][/QUOTE]

It's everywhere the same, here in Europe.
Germany is even more clear. Didn't find the statistic from 2010. But BMW held the first 5 places in a row, and I think 8 out of Top10.... This one's from September 2011: 1 BMW R 1200 GS 370 2 Honda CBF 1000 332 3 Kawasaki ER-6f/6n 136 4 BMW R 1200 R 109 5 BMW F 800 R 107 6 BMW S 1000 RR 99 7 Yamaha XJ6 95 8 Suzuki V-Strom 650 88 9 BMW F 800 GS 87 10 BMW K 1600 GT 84 |

Impressive the GS did so well against the new Multistrada in its own market!

I'm surprised the R1200R is that popular. I rented one recently in Italy (when my R1200GS broke...) and it was pretty meh.

I'm surprise that the big GS is so popular in Europe. Almost no unpaved roads, small streets, super tight packed traffic. If I move back there I'd get a more sport touring oriented bike, like a Multistrada or even something smaller to filter through the traffic.
Btw, I looove my GS! Martincito screwed with this post 12-09-2011 at 08:56 AM |

Removed from the list are all 50 cc, and all scooters. Over here, scooters can be found from 50 to 800 cc, but they are in a separate list. The top seller on the scooters list is the Honda SH-300 with more than 17.000 units ![]() The list appears in each monthly issue of Due Route (two wheels); the biggest Italian motorcycle magazine. It doesn't show the last 12 months, but rather the sales this year. That makes the list in the first half of the year useless; but, hey, this is Italy! [TaSK]
