M'lady rode 1085 miles in 21 hours on a Honda cruiser that was built to ride to a bar for a beer. Her ride was through Quebec and Ontario, ending up in Long Sault, ON.
For some reason, the numbers all came together at the famous carp-fishing motel in Long Sault:

Here's my
on her first extended ride on her own bike. After 16 years as a pillion, she wanted to do her own .Started her on her 250 Rebel, and now transitioning to an 650GS thumper. She's bugging me to get her a dirt bike too...can't wait for that! ![]() ![]() These photos were taken about half-way on her first 200+ mile day. We went up to Shenandoah National Park in VA (March 2011).

Looks like a lil' bit of fresh snow on that curb. Nicely done, both of you! M'lady started on a Rebel (now sold to a new rider,) graduated to a 750 Shadow Aero, then to a BMW K75S. This winter, the project is to get an aged but sturdy -- and low and lightweight-- '81 Yamahammer XT250 all girlied up and hit the gravel together. There's raspberry crocodile vinyl in hand for the new seat.

OK, this is getting out of hand.
I purchased a 4' x 7' utility trailer and mounted a few pressure-treated boards and a wheel chock to it. I'm not an advocate of trailering, but sometimes conditions are not good enough to ride in locally. Tonight is a prime example: snow, sleet, freezing rain, black ice, plagues of locusts and killing of the first born. However, the red-haired female contingent found she is 300 miles short of 20k this season, with a few days left and a full-time job. The trailer and the van left the dooryard tonight, will pick up her K75, trailer over to the coast in the morning, and attempt to wind things up to round numbers. It's supposed to be balmy over there -- a high of 41, and gusts to 40 mph. Some ladies just have big ovaries. She's a Mary Kay consultant, too.

Apparently one of the few redhead females on a bike in coastal Maine was inmate Barbsironbutt, who clocked 130 miles today in and around Yarmouth, Bath, and Gray, ME; did a circumnavigation of Sebago Lake, and was greeted heartily by our State of Maine and Cow Hampshire neighbors. She has now only 170 left miles to cap a 20,000 mile season. 130 miles may not seem like much, but it's a goodly stretch in gusts to 40 mph and temps that did not not break freezing in late December.
Thanks are due to the fine folks at the White Pines Motel in Raymond, ME for their gracious hospitality to our girl and inmates Donna and Jeff at Whitehorse Gear in Conway, NH. I sat and manned the phone and the navigation console at the Palace of the People. Houston had its hand in every space mission. Hope Ms B will post pics. Great ride, and better to see you grinning.

Gee folks, I think its really harsh of everyone to post photos of those crashes....
I'd never post a photo of Kylie lying on the ground ![]() ... ohh, OK then.... she lives in Scotland, so I guess I'm safe, here in Oz.

Big ovaries or not, 20,011 miles in the 2011 riding season was completed with hours to spare on December 31st. It took trailering and riding in 3 states to find adequtely miserable, but safe, winter roads to complete it; but it's done. I did take pics in front of Tim Hortons in Brunswick, Maine, and also at Sebago Lake, but they're too blurry to bother posting (I suspect the lens was fogged in the 18 degrees). With that, I have put the 2011 riding season to bed and am looking forward to 2012. I'm not a New Year's resolver, but I do have a few things I'd like to accomplish this season. I'd like to do a bun burner 1500 with the iron butt association, get certified to teach the MSF rider safety courses, and just ride, ride, ride. Happy New Year fellow inmates! Ride safely and keep the adventures coming!

Here's my wife on her F650 on the way up to Hurrah pass in Moab this year.
She is willing to follow me just about anywhere and has only started riding dirt this past summer. Real trooper and in my opinion a good rider on that 650 in the dirt.
