Ahhh, advanced stop lines with bicycle boxes. I love these things. They are all over the place in London.

Despite the bicycle symbol on them, motorcycles and scooters routnely overtake the queueing cars right up to the lights and then come to a stop in the bicycle box.

You just validated why I put two wheels against the curb. That way, I don't have to worry about assholes who are too stupid to ride properly coming up my right side when I'm turning. BTW, it's not illegal.

That pic is undoubtedly taken in some Left Coast city that has a neo-Marxist mayor and city council. We don't have bicycle lanes around here.

That's how it works in Taiwan, and it seems to work really well. All the bicycles, scooters and motorcycles filter to the front of the cars via the bicycle/scooter lane, and then all take off first from the stop light. It helps to keep the two-wheeled and four-wheeled traffic separated.

Then again, they even have certain roads (more like narrow paths) that are scooter/mc -only, and can park anywhere they can fit. I can only dream about America adopting Taiwanese attitudes toward scooters & motorcycles...

Ditto on the Netherlands.

I don't think it will work in the US, where the traffic infrastructure is MUCH more car-centric.

There could be more tolerance towards two-wheelers IF the two-wheelers abide by the traffic laws too, which they do in the Netherlands and probably in Taiwan too.

Where's the Wolf Whistle smiley?

Hubba hubba!

I do want one of those, but that's why I got a Duke 2... A bike like that's too much bike for me, over-kill... and would get me killed

And PS. Sorry if my comment struck a nerve... It wasn't directed at the bikes so much as it was the stereotype of riders that ride them...

This guy can make that big thing dance....

With bicycles I agree with you, but motorcycles no way, even 50cc scooters take off faster than most cages.

Amazing that some people are too ignorant to comprehend that.

It is a total failure in their ability to perceive and adapt to the environment as it actually exists, instead of how they think it should be, and not understand the difference or why it matters.

Darwin at work.

hey, another dig... You're good at that.

Do you live in a Metropolis, in a state that doesn't even have drivers education classes? Well I do.

When I lived in NC there was an overall conformity and system to driving. The Tennessee system is; if you're lucky enough to pass, you get to go out with the general public.

But I'm the stupid one... Yeah, in a state that thinks to yield for an emergency vehicle means you pull to the left... Seriously, I heard that gem basically taught in a first offenders class.

I backed-it-in at a 4 way stop one day and the old man driving the other way, in the other lane didnt like that at all. So he called me some names, told me I was riding "that thing" too fast and got out like he was gonna fight (or pull a gun)...

But I guess that was my fault too, right? By your expert assumption of me and Nashville drivers?

He stopped his truck to yell obscenities at me, got out to fight me, because I made the tail wag... Got any more names to call me based on that?

My comments were not directed at you or any other particular inmate, nor was the statement that I quoted. I honestly wasn't even thinking of you, please don't blame me if your having trouble with your conscience.

To answer your question, I am a city p&d driver in the Seattle metropolitan area, and I drive for a company that considers a complaint from a motorist as a "preventable incident", so I don't have the luxury of making up my own rules, and that has carried over to my riding.
It is very liberating once you decide to not make riding/driving a conflict, consider all other motorists as impediments to your desires, not compound others failures with your own, or force them to do as you want.

Being on the road can be very enjoyable and virtually stress free if you choose to make it so. Life's too short to ride angry, it's a "preventable incident".

As a UPS driver, I agree with your statement wholeheartedly. Well said.

Anyone getting angry when they ride is doing it wrong.
