The Hummer was his Dakar build; originally with Chevy Corvette racing engines from the factory endurance team (aka LeMans) I have no idea what motor is in there now. Lord knows its not a 6.3l diesel. I think he had a Chevy Trophy Truck at the same time he had a Ford NASCAR team. They are separate teams. In Cup, I believe he has had Chevy, Dodge, Toyota and Ford all in the last six years. And even while running a Dodge last year, the announcers would routinely state that Roger Penske had the only Dodge team in the garage.

Interesting rule change.

In a move that should help curb the two-car drafting that became prevalent at Daytona and Talladega last season, NASCAR has banned in-race communication between drivers at all races. Restricting the radio chatter would make it harder to maintain the tandem racing, which track officials say hasn't been received well by fans, and Sprint Cup director John Darby said it also would enhance safety.

I remember Jeff Gordon getting hung out to dry on a final restart when he thought he had reached an agreement over the radio, but his "partner" bailed on him.

I wonder what the practical effect of this will be? On restarts, will drivers search out teammates or "engine mates", regardless of their position in the field?

Or will they find partners of convenience, regardless of affiliation, who are closest to them in the field?

I heard Carl Edwards talking about how the drivers were trying to develop hand signals to allow them to draft without radio communications.

I think it will go back to the days of old, where drivers tried to make deals before the race, but as the race went on, those plans might change. In the last 5 laps, there are no teammates or friends anyway, it is get as much as you can, and run with whoever offers the best chance to win or finish in the highest position.

Patrick can't put a deal together to run the Indy 500 this year and commits to the Coke 600 since she doesn't have anything to do that day.
