Back in the early-mid 90's when I was really racing you could go into the hobby store and get sticker sets to do your fave. nascar team car. I had a jeff gorden RC10T2 as well as a country time car...I still have the bodies....yea I never toss anything. When I was toying with the idea of racing again...I went to look and nothing...not online not in the stores...I was pretty bummed....and I don't even like nascar, but they to have some pretty cars.

I did not get to take pics of the RC fleet lastnight...I took some gun pics instead....perhaps tonight I will get a chance.

I built this aircraft back in 1995 after getting tired of dealing with the "gas" planes, mess, noise, etc.

Very old school. She flies on 7-8 cells with a geared Astroflite 15.

Decided to strap the GoPro Hero on top after using it successfully on my motorcycle. Worked great!

Thanks... The camera I'm using is the Contour Roam, like this one: http://contour.com/products/contour-roam
About $200 plus a memory card.

The plane is an E-Flite Mini Pulse with a few mods, mainly a Park 480 motor instead of the recommended 450. I also sawed the wing in half and re-joined it with no dihedral and added bigger ailerons. It doesn't seem to care at all about the extra weight when carrying the camera.



Mounting the camera was simple. I made a little platform out of lite-ply that the camera bolts to, then it can be rubber-banded in place just about anywhere.

Man we race concrete superspeedway in Rock Hill, SC (Hobby Stop), another track not far from there, and dirt oval at a couple different places. There is probably a dirt track near you, maybe some short course off road.

Me too, but the local club just had a drastic change in leadership, plus the guys that fly at the local "park" do not grasp simple safety items like not making low passes over people so I joined the local club.

It used to be that you had a bunch of hoops to jump through to fly there, now, all you need do is show them you can fly and obey the simple safey guidlines.

Plus finding a club that's not leasing property...
They should own it, and improve on it, accordingly..

The one I belong to does lease the property, from the state, and just resigned a 20 or 25 lease. http://www.kcam-de.org/

I don't want this to get moved to CS&M but all I have to say about the AMA is they can keep it. Dirty politics and old men set in their ways just scratches the surface.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you cannot argue that they do not go to bat for us in the legislative area and work to promote the hobby.

Without them and the coverages they provide, many clubs could not exist.

So, just because you apparently had a bad experience with them does not make the organization bad.

Care to cite specifics to go along with your condemnation?

The one's around here are built on private property, paying leases to heirs, who are now looking to sell the lands...

I looked into the local clubs, and was not impressed. Out of the 4 in the area, only 1 really interested me. By the time I would pay all my fees for the year, it would cost me a little over $100. I would rather buy another plane for that.

The owner of a local hobby shop was in the store I work at, and was telling a co-worker of mine about his experience with a club that borrows the land from someone else. The land is leased or lent, not sure which, by a family who are farmers and have a good amount of land. The owners are RC enthusiasts and from what this guy was saying, have some serious money invested in their planes. When they show up, everybody is required to bring their planes down so that they can have the place to themselves. He said after that happened to him a couple times he never went back.

Just got a Sig Kadet Senior kit from my wife from Christmas. Opened the plans and about crapped my pants at the size. I knew the measurements, but it was just a surprise seeing it full-scale on paper. This is my first kit and plane, after buying a used trainer when I was a kid that I never got around to flying.

I specifically wanted a full-on kit, and there are SO few options available these days - especially in the realm of trainers. What is drawing me into the hobby is the eventual building and flying of the warbirds, but that's obviously down the road a ways.

I think I'm going to add strip ailerons (the Senior kit doesn't include them stock), and make it a taildragger. The latter might be an IF if the club trainer (the human one) throws things at me when I suggest the idea.
