990 Fuel Pump Filter How-Too

CJRacer, quick off topic question. I have the CJ Designs extended footpegs (longer version) for my '10 990. Now I want to get pivotpegz for my bike, will your extended pegs just fit onto pivot pegz.

I have a different version for the Pivots. Pivots and CJD Extensions are in stock. These only work on the MK2 version. As the new MK3 version is wider, but not longer. Send me an email and we can go over this if interested.

You turn the key off and this flips the fuel pump in reverse to back wash the filters and a few seconds. Upon start up next time it's back to normal.

I think the ones Blak posted are an older test version.

This is closer to what the production version will be.

What does that little tube thingy between the elec stuff and the what looks like a thermal sock for the electric stuff.

The little tube is a one way check valve that replaces the one that is removed from the FP.

The "Sock" is a foam wrap that the Black box goes in to protect it.

This all fits under the battery box where the 950 FP use to be.

Until it gets installed on the test bike, that's about all I've got for you.

The installation is super easy. Plug and play for the electrical side of it. The one way valve to install inline is very easy as well. The only trick is the removal of the one way valve in the fuel pump itself. But if you go slow, in a few minutes it's out.
Total install time, I would say 30 min taking your time if your pump is out of the tank. You don't even have to take the tank off, just drop the skidplate and loosen up the tank.

How does it work and do I notice any difference? Well I took off the fuel pump out every few thousand miles to have a look at the filters. After my first 6000 miles, the sock filter looked like new (other than a slight color change to the nature of fuel). After another 4000, still the same. I surely am not worried about clogging the filters like I did after my first 4000 miles (on California gas). Every time you switch off the ignition, within seconds, the fuel pump reverses the flow for a few seconds.
