I've seen this thread for a bit, but just now realized what my response would have to be...

I hate the sound of a Honda CB/CL350 twin. It doesn't matter what you do to the bike, it still sounds like a Honda 350 twin. Even with a set of racing megaphones... CB350 Twin. It sucks.

Suspension on almost all the new Sporties... Brakes and seat on the first Versys... having to do the doo on a brand new
KLR ( that's just wrong ) and any bike that will not accommodate a center stand but demands that you measur oil
In the bike's fully upright position, through a sight glass.

True Dat! I have often been tempted to get a CB350 project bike. They're so great looking, but you're right, they sound awful, no matter what you do!

My R1150RS would be perfect with out the servo assisted brakes!!!! yeah it adds to braking power, but it's the breaking I worry about.Just not needed the previous models stopped just fine. Also servo assist, hurts the feel of the brakes.

How about the stock seat on the KTM690r? Great Bike, but the seat is like sitting on a board wrapped in barb wire. After 150 miles, your ass feels like you wiped your ass with a wire brush soaked in turpentine

stoke KTM seats

I have had 6 KTM's and the only one with a useable seat is my 525XC (ATV). Great bikes but they cant get the seat rite.

Suzuki 3rd gear blow ups

The DR 650 seems to have a problem with 3rd gear failures. You may have seen the thread over in thumpers. A small % of total numbers built I'm sure. However, when it goes, it goes large and grenades the engine. Sad, because I really want one of these bikes but I'm just not willing to gamble these odds with my wallet. It seems to be a long term on-going problem that Suzuki is unwilling to address.

Rear brake - "It has a rear brake?" That's the joke. OK, so the rear rarely gets used anyway, but it says Brembo on the caliper, shouldn't it work, at least a little? I could slow down faster dragging my feet.

Mirrors - If I want to look at my shoulders/arms, they're great. Behind/beside me? Useless.

Rear shock - Under sprung and over damped. I could remove it and fit a 2 X 4 and it would work about the same.

And I really like the bike!

No doubt. Both of mine have aftermarket seats.

Running on only one cylinder? CB 350.

Virago- starters. If you've ever owned a Virago, you know what I mean. Although this is otherwise nice bikes- and I never liked my Virago. I mean, it was heavy and underpowered, but at least it handled like shit and had crappy brakes.

Some Aprilias have the horn & turn signal switches reversed (turn signals on bottom). Year dependent? My '01 Falco is "correct", my friend's '03 is "backwards". Made an annoying ass out of myself trying to cancel turn signal one day as I rode past a park where some nice couple were trying to get married, I was this arse on a motorbike...

This is a learning moment right here!

That third gear thing is a real pisser, but on the other hand you can buy another DR650 for what it costs to replace a FD on your late model BMW.

You rarely get any kind of snob action from DR riders either... unless they are towing a KTM with a blown top end out of a sand wash!

l have to take my hand off the grip to change radio stations on my goldwing.

And the temp and fuel gauges are right next to each other and look alike.

And the saddlebags open out instead of from the top so when you open them everything inside falls out.

And the trunk lid opens forward instead of swinging to one side so you can't open the trunk if you have anything on the passenger seat.

And as for my dakar ...

don't even get me started.

Aprilia Dorsoduro

Instrument Cluster - Just a little bit of inclement weather causes problems. Rain causes the tachometer to go haywire for 24 - 48 hours. Hot sun causes the digital speedo to black out. Apperently, it is common in Aprilias in general.

High beam switch - When I'm wearing winter gloves, I'm constantly hitting the high beams by mistake. I'm learning to be more careful with my fingers.

Other than that, the bike is amazing!
