Yeah, my keyring one is the best tiny light so far. The iTP A3 EOS. It throws out about 100 lumens on high, is about as bright as a mini Mag on low (and will stay on for 90 something hours on low) uses just one AAA battery and is about the size of your pinky. About $20.00 unless you get it in titanium for $50.00

Still loving mine.

Though I am able to "crash" it... not sure what happens but I'm guessing something in the micro latches up. In "turbo" mode, loosen the lens just till it switches to normal mode, then press on the lens so it twitches between normal and turbo mode quickly a few times. It won't turn on in either mode after that, the LED is super dim... pull the batteries out for 5-10mins then put it back together, works again.

Weird little quirk about it, wouldn't trust it as a tac light because of that, but as an EDC torch it's pretty badass.

I need a new light. For the wife that is - she's headed back to work and can't find the Surefire Executive she used to carry.

I'm looking for a light about the size of the old Surefire (I don't remember if it was a single or double CR123) and smaller than the Olight M30 I use (I got it after reading about it here). It needs to have at least a high (preflight) and a low (in the cockpit) setting. One feature I would like on the replacement is the strobe function (with immediate access) like the M30 has. It has to go through airport security so it can't have an overly aggressive (sharp) bezel.

What do you suggest?

I'd prefer US and closer to $100 than 150.

Looking at reviews for the lights you suggested the Nitecore and the Fenix appear to the be best suited for the job. The review I read on the LumaPower suggested that running it on CR123s was not a good choice.

Is the Nitecore Chinese?

I just picked up a couple of these....

http://pelican.com/lights_detail.php?recordID=3610

They take 4 AA batteries and with Pelicans Recoil design, they put of an impressive amount of light. They were also only about $39 online.

Less than $20 for 1300 (?) lumens

For a real bargain try one of these:http://www.ledsupermall.com/tag/ultrafire+501b/
Only $18 including shipping for VERY bright (they claim 1300 lumens, but who knows) light including battery and charger. I have one and it looks to be quite well made and it is too bright to use on anything close up, it actually hurts your eyes (though it has lower output modes you can switch to).

I ended up with the PD32 instead and it is a great torch.

All Chinese .... Fenix is tough to beat for the money, not quite Surefire quality but not far off.

I just placed an order with Battery Junction. I ended up getting an Olight M20S-X. It's smaller than the M30 and still puts out a decent amount of light. The removable bezel and the ability to immediately access the strobe with 1 hand were the deciding factors.

For some reason there was also a Nitecore IFE1 in the cart when I checked out.

Cheers.
