GASco, the fuel pump troubles are the same on the Africa Twin 750 and the MK1 Varadero 1000 (Carb version). I think this could be helpful:

    Hello,

Is there someone that has the Honda XLV750 R parts list? I can't find it on the internet.

    Thanx!

Will be difficult, Motormuis. I guess you are Dutch (regarding your name), did you try the Dutch club?

www.transalpclub.nl - select the Forum in the left menu, there is a special XLV750R section.

I have to mount new spokes on front & back wheel.
Is it possible to do it by myself?
Any good experience with companies in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium?

    Thank you :clap

    Haan Wheels in Waalwijk (NL)

    And

    http://www.jvd-wheels.com/index.htm

The last company works together with the almost famous Laverda specialist Simon Poelman which is actually the guy who did all the wheels on both my 2 XLV's and a Transalp. I changed the original spokes for RVS (stainless steel). Paid around 90€ per wheel.

    Excellent job!

Please note... After a short while, you have to tighten the new spokes and re-align the wheels. Although it is a job you can do on your own, Simon did it for me.

    Thank you very much :norton

    Due to some other recomendations,
the distance between my home & the company,
a fast & acceptable quote I give the job to
    Haan weheels.

Now I have to wait for 3 weeks.

    Hi All,

Despite all efforts, the damage to my carburettor (see the XLV topic about my restoration here at www.advrider.com forum and www.varadero-international.com forum for details) is beyond repair. Fuel is leaking along the rubber seals. The intensive cleaning has revealed serious corrosion to the carbs; due to this corrosion, the rubber seals don't close as tight as they should...

I'm now looking to a carburettor set who can replace the original. Is there a valid and good substitute? F.e. Transalp XL600V or Africa Twin XRV750? Any advice is appreciated.

    Tnx for your help,

    Bernard, The Netherlands.

Sorry for the hijack but do anyone know where I can get a set of big end bearings for the XLV?
I am in South Africa and would appreciate any help in this regard.

We are talking about the conrod bearings, right?
The size and part number depends on the diameter of your crankshaft.

    The partnumbers are:
    13218-ME9-003,
    13219-ME9-003, or
    13220-ME9-003.
These buggers are hard to come by, you have to do a world wide search.
I read somewhere that some Mitsubishi cars use the same size bearings, but that's hearsay.

The maintenance manual tells you which part you'll need for what crank diameter.

    Hi all

Still desperately seeking for a proper set of carbs for the XLV. It seems, that the carbs of early VT750 Shadows ('83/'84) would do the trick as well.

Maybe it can be repaired... are there any experiences with 'liquid gaskets', like locktide, or Curil-T? It needs to be able to fill the 'gap' between the rubber diagrams and the aluminium carb casing.

    Any help appreciated!

Hi Bernard, I have looked at this thread from time to time but assumed you would have no trouble getting what you want.
It seems not but I am also now confused as you seem to be asking about the gasket on the float bowl in the earlier posts but now it sounds like the slide diaphragms. The bowl gaskets can easily be replaced with a liquid gasket material and the diaphragms are available from NRP carburettors in the UK (gaskets as well). Bernard, I dont understand, all this has been on the XLV forum that you contribute so much to????
    cheers Graeme

The bearings apparently have a colour code on the end of them. There are 3 colours I think. If its yellow then this will help, it was posted not so long ago on the XLV forum.
"Daewoo 1498 cc 76.50mm bore engine
    EB 1350B4000K
Since genuine big end bearings are not available ,these measure up exact
shaft & tunnel size as yellow coded xlv bearings .Width is 2mm narrower but does'nt have a 1mm tapper on each end like honda bearings have.
Shaft to bearing surface area is the same. These also come 10,20,&30 thou oversize
If there is crankshaft wear or damage this might be an option.
I have travelled 10,000 kms so far with these alternative bearings
    with no problems yet."
    hope this helps.
    cheers Graeme

Unfortunately all other options (incl liquid gasket materials) are NO option. I've made inquiries at some specialists and they all strongly recommend NOT to use liquid gasket materials in combination with Fuel / rubber materials or on a carburettor....

Shortcut... I desperately need a FULL REPLACEMENT carburettor for the XLV (which might be from the '83 VT750 Shadow as well)

Not slide diagrams, not bowlgaskets... They have been replaced by new ones already after which the fuel started to leak...
