Guatemala to Alaska and Back - Page 2

Hello Chapinazo:
I hope the trip is going well. Im near Indianapolis, Indiana, if you need a place to stop by, let me know. Lots of cool places to ride here.
The current temperatures are in the 30 to 50s Farengheit at this time, in the 20s at night. Watch "for black ice" if you are taking secondary roads/older blacktops/in the upper midwest. It can get icy on those roads or just about anywhere in the late winter, early spring (ie now). This is true especially in the late evenings and early mornings, (black ice: its slippery, it takes you by surprise, especially on curves and over bridges). Another concern is deer, they are in abundance in the midwest... usually come out at dusk and dawn.
Its great to see a compatriota riding north. Try to cover as many national parks as possible, they are all awesome. Each state has wonderful ride worthy places, take the time to explore. The same holds true for Canada.

Howdy...where will you enter US, California or AZ ? There are some great rides in AZ (my home) and if you're interested in a riding partner, I can make time....be safe

Probably AZ , second half of April . It's always good to ride with the locals!

Arrived yesterday in San Cristobal ; Hotel Fray Bartolome on Av. Insurgents with Niños Heroes.
Great deal : 2 blocks from the Zocalo, indoor parking , free WiFi, clean rooms and big garden . 180 pesos for a single room.
Ask for a second blanket,one is not enough

Well, if all worked out, you are on your way North. There are plenty of recommendations once you cross the border into the US. I'd say hit the far west coast on your way up (Hwy 1, etc.) and then drop back down the Rockies on your way home - will be much less trouble from the weather then.

Ping me when you get to San Francisco.
