No. not at all ,
back in 1979 on my first trip to Bike Week in Daytona I saw Ron riding this around the infield at the racetrack, up and down Main Street in Daytona Beach and out on the sand cruising the beach. Incredible workmanship, complicated execution , Triumuph triple power , handlebars halfway down the girder forks , strange brew but it does function. A mind blower, for sure.

We live outside of Lexington, Virginia where we had our second snow of the year last weekend. It's been an incredibly warm Winter, plenty of rain, but very little snow. It was 68 degrees yesterday and over 70 today before another cold front moved in tonight. Anyway, when we woke up to snow last weekend my wife and I thought woohoo, get the skis out!
![]() Well, as you might imagine, with temps like we've had the snow sucked for skiing; fluffy on top, slush underneath, so we were basically walking around with ice balls stuck to our skis. So, let's get some altitude! We drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 25 miles away and about 2000 feet higher than where we live. The ground was so warm up there that most of the snow had melted off, but the BRP was CLOSED to traffic so we just took a long walk. We heard some noise and guess what came driving down the road?? ![]() ![]() We talked to them for a few minutes and found out they are two couples who LOVE their Urals. They had been out all day driving many miles through up to eight inches of snow. Three had two-wheel-drive, but one lady had only one-wheel-drive. She was a little leery of some of the snow, but had knobbies on and wasn't having any trouble at all. They had ridden up to the BRP on some forest service dirt roads and were surprised to find it was closed. We helped them sneak through one of the gates so they could continue their frolicking. How cool is that? Doug

Yep, can't deny, was looking for heated gloves but when the guy showed me the jacket, had me put it on and plugged it in I immediately asked for a very long extension cord so I could keep it on, walking around the motorshow
In fact my wife decided it was time for my old bones to be kept warm with the low temps of the last couple of weeks ( I didn't object too much of course Quote:

Heated vest association with being old ?
Bought one about 6 years back and wish I'd done it earlier when reflecting on some of the less comfortable rides over a number of years. Observation. Back when in the 60s when slightly wilder, obviously younger, and doing the coffee bar thing, riding mates used to laugh at Pat and I when putting on substantial overtrousers rather than just getting the jeans wet. S'funny, almost all of those guys gave up on bikes and "progressed" to four wheelers. On the other hand, we continued, so maybe there's a message there. |
