It was a gift kind of. He did give me some modern shells that I guess he has shot through it. Should I not try to shoot it?

I wouldn't. The barrels are made of twisted strips of steel hammer welded together around a mandrel. There's always a chance that there can be voids that weaken it. Black powder residue can sit in the void spaces and corrode the metal. That gun's over 100 years old and designed for black powder only. If a barrel let go at the point your fingers are wrapped around it, your new nickname would probably be "stumpy".

I have been 9mm shopping for a while. I had it narrowed down to a 9mm 1911 or a M&P pro series. Well the M&P is on back order so I went to the gun show Saturday in search of a 1911 or maybe a G17. Gun show was a no go, I found a decent priced G17 but I just cant get used to the feel of a glock.
I still want a full size 1911 in 9mm but evidentially thats impossible to find locally. I will probably just have my FFL order a STI for me. Well I stopped in a local shop after the gun show and he had a CZ in the case. I ended up taking it home. Its a good shooter. Really thin grip for a 16rd double stack. You can swap in a safety or Decocker. I have the decocker installed, its a little thick so I may swap in the safety since the lever is smaller. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the trigger, silky smooth and crisp in SA. It came with three mags and cleaning tools as well. The little integrated beaver tail feels similar to my 1911 and its very comfortable. I ran about a 100rds of random FMJ through it and it ate everything. I am loving it so far. I do want to swap in some night sites but thats about it Any ideas on where i can get sites for a CZ? ![]() ![]() JW2011 by Rider_wv, on Flickr |

just got a MEC 600jr in 20ga like NEW owner said he's only loaded 200 shells in it, A MEC Grabber in 12ga, like new, has about 1000 rounds ran through it, 6ish pounds of 700x, 4ish pounds of blue dot, and a couple boxes of extra bars and bushings , and a misc. box of 1pounders of powder, for a whopping $250.00
plus i purchased 7 bags of shot for $25.00 ea, and several bags of wads for $5 ea, and he gave me a back seat full of hulls

I wouldn't think twice about taking a cz in te place though. If you still in the market RIA makes a 1911 9mm.

I have an STI Edge in 40S&W which is snappier than a 9mm. The full size 1911 frame works very well with it. I shoot it better than I do 45ACP. With a 45, it is a slower push and takes longer to come back down on target.

I have the Glock 19, and wish I would have gotten a 1911 frame Para or something similar.
I can't stand the plastic toy feel of the Glock. it is a good gun, well put together and tight, but I am defenitely not a fan of the polymer chassis anymore even though I liked it at first. |

Yeah I have been eyeballing the RIA 9mm tactical but I cant find one to look at. The STI spartan uses an armscor frame with STI slide so it is budget friendly. Dawson Precision lists several 9mm STI with a CRP package that is very tempting. I am leaning towards this one STI Trojan 9mm With CRP package: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Produ...32B-1326311105 I am frugal so I will probably go with the STI Spartan CRP for $370 less. $370 buys a lot of ammo ![]() http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Produ...331-1326311647 I would love a 1911 in 45 but I am too tight to shoot 45.
