Poll Question
We recently had the lumen output of our MM12AUX lights tested.
![]() The results: Avg LED Luminous efficency = 1020 (60 degree spread) "compares to" rating = 55W HB5 halogen These lights are BRIGHT. All this is a prelude to the following: We have had a few riders ask if the lights work with a dimmer? We did some bench testing and determined that they do indeed work with a dimmer. While we havent had any issues with angry cagers, we are considering offering a dimmer on our website for riders that may want to control the volume of light (day or night). Poll Question: If you were interested in a dimmer, would you prefer - 1. Hardwired, rotary dial -or- 2.Wireless touchpad style (brain would need to be hardwired) Either of these could be mounted on the handlebar for easy access. Thanks again, -Brian

My leaning would be for the dial as it seems simpler and would give you a visual indication as to the output. But as these are the first aux lights I've had on a bike, I would not mind hearing of anybody else's pros and cons. I have been wondering about this since they are just awesome, but do make my headlight look like a candle.

How about a dimmer that you manually set at say 20-30%, but has a wire that can be connecetd to the High beams so the lights stay at 20-30% w/ the low beams but go to 100% w/ the high beams.

Dimmer - Poll
Lots of "ifs" ...
Cost .. Size .. Mounting options .. But I agree with DigDig -- Simple and something that would give you a visual indication to the setting .. Quote:

Thanks for the input about the dimmer option. I got a few PM's most leaning toward the hard wired rotary dimmer. That said we should have something ready soon.
Thanks again, -Brian

Being non-adjustable would probably keep the cost down. I am happy to see that there are more and more options for LED lights coming out. Just ordered a pair of MM12's to try out! Cheers Subaru297 screwed with this post 03-11-2012 at 05:46 PM |
