Well the 4rt is up and running. I took her out for a first ride Sunday in the snow at the local ORV area.

Tonight I adjusted the rear brake so I can actually use it. i should have checked that before leaving Sunday . I also swapped out the bars to something with a bit more rise than stock. I'm going to try the Protaper SE DRZ110 bend. It's pretty much the same as the renthal 6" bar, but slightly taller and just a touch narrower.

So what did you do with your Trials Bike today? Maintenance? Compete? Overhaul? Restore? Nothing? Post it here!

I'll start off. I dragged out my old 314 Montesa to get it ready for Trials Camping Silliness next year, and decided that the destroyed LH bar switch (that controlled the long-gone lighting system) had to go.

Yeah, I know the hillbillied choke lever is hideous. Gimmie time....

After only 27 minutes of wrestling, the lighting wiring harness was freed from the 314...

I did discover that I had a new 314 clutch cable hidden with some new Aprilla Climber cables I had lying around.....

The 'Prilla cables seem to match the 314 cables exactly. Hmmmm....I may have to replace the throttle and clutch cables with these. I mean after all, it's SO much easier to come up with Aprilla cables than Montesa cables....

The finished product.

I just noticed that the bars are bent. I'll deal with that next week.

After removing the radiator scoop to get access to the cables and wiring, I am now wondering if I should put it back on or go with the "stripped" look. What do you all think??

Nice late 70's Dodge in the background! Nice nike too

If you do keep that tank on, just switch the "a"and "i" around on the side cover and you'll be fine.

One Happy Dad!

My older daughter (8 now) decided that she was ready to ride late last summer. Since then she's done a fair amount of riding in the yard but hasn't "gone riding" with me (other than bringing the XR along to ride in the pits at a trials event last year). Today was the first time we actually loaded up and headed out for a ride. She started on the Oset, but since the trails were slick, rocky and rooty, she was more comfortable being able to sit on the XR50 (I brought both, just in case) and rode it all day.

She did much better than I expected. I did a bunch of pushing early on but I was amazed with what she was riding through/over/up by the end of the day. We took three trips up the biggest hill there - requiring less help from dad with each successive trip. If the trails had been dry I think she'd have made it on her own. On top of all that, she had a great time. She was also asleep in the truck before I was done loading the bikes.

At the top of her favorite twisty climb:

This is part of the loop for our trials event:

At the top of the big hill. This was section 4 for last fall's event:

Normally she rides in the backyard at home. Today we rode in this guy's backyard:

We don't have scenery like this in our backyard:

We had a great trials yesterday at San Ysidro!

Not many pics and they are all blurry. New camera and wrong settings.

I scored at a niftly rubble wash section in the morning.

We had Rick fall in this cactus.

Poor guy, it was all over his leg and in his hand.

We had Brewtus riding AMA on some vintage POS.

Grizzzly riding INT on a not as old as Brewtus' POS, but one nonetheless.

Our hero Bob M. who is 75 and rode really smooth.

I rode my first event in Semi-Expert and survived.

I finished mid-pack in a fairly large and talented class so I am stoked about that! It was loads of fun and strected my confidence quite a bit.

NMtrailboss smoked all of us in SX with a 17 in a day full of tough sections. Great job Curtis!!

the bikes went for a snow/ice/slush ride....but the Yamaha lost compression and sounds like it may have busted a ring had to tow it 8 miles threw the slush...the TLR 200 is a tank and towed about 850lbs of people/bikes/equipment

it was really fun trying to climb the icy hills

still working on my skills before I finally do a event on the TLR...we had a local event on Sunday but I passed on it because I rarely get to ride with my pops.

but I did spend a little bit of time practicing pre loading and popping up the front wheel over obstacles. and just overall slow/steady turning and balance
